Rumour: Julian Draxler not moving to Arsenal from Schalke

Schalke have rejected claims that Julian Draxler is in line for a move away from the club, dismissing the claims as “wild speculation.” The club’s general manager Horst Heldt told German newspaper WAZ that there have been no bids for the midfielder and that he has heard nothing about any desire to leave the club on Draxler’s part.

Draxler has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent week, with further speculation also claiming that he is a target for their North London rivals Tottenham.

However, Horst rebuffed these claims, insisting that if clubs were interested then they would have made Schalke aware of their interest.

“I am not aware that Julian would like to leave us, neither in the winter nor in summer,” opened Horst.

“There is no question of a bid regarding Julian. At the end of it, it’s wild speculation, which takes place over there in England.

“The clubs would have to report to us if they were interested.”

Draxler, who has ten international caps for Germany, has made 14 appearances for Schalke in the Bundesliga this season. The 20 year-old has scored one goal during that time, alongside four assists.

Draxler has completed 72 take ons this season – the second highest in the Bundesliga and one every 17 minutes.
