Brendan Rodgers is set to return to Spain for his latest transfer target, with Dani Parejo topping his list for his summer shopping with Liverpool, The Express report.

Rodgers has not had much joy from trips to Spain for playing staff as yet, with the likes of Iago Aspas, Aly Cissokho and Luis Alberto having little effect at Anfield so far, but it has dissuaded him from perusing La Primera for new recruits.

Dani Parejo is the latest player to have caught his eye, with the talented midfielder currently impressing at Valencia.

Parejo had been deemed a squad player initially at the start of the season, but since Juan Antonio Pizzi took charge of Los Che, he has found himself far more involved, impressing to an extent that Pizzi saw it fit to allow Ever Banega to return to Argentina in the January transfer window.

Despite that, Valencia are notoriously financially unstable and are in no position to reject any sizeable offers that come their way for any players.

Rodgers watched Parejo impress in their shock 3-2 victory over Barcelona earlier this month and his ability to play in both defensive, and offensive roles in the midfield has attracted Rodgers to him, with injuries having hampered his squad in both areas this season.

Dani Parejo has created 36 chances this season, getting three assists. He has created more than Jack Wilshere (28).
