Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has pulled off a major coup with the signing of Ngoy

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes managed to ward off competition from clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United and succeeded in signing highly rated Belgian teenager Julien Ngoy, ESPN reports.

Ngoy joined Stoke City after a successful trail at the clubs Clayton Wood training ground.

Stoke City told ESPN that an agreement had been reached to take Ngoy to the Britannia Stadium.

Club CEO Tony Scholes and technical director Mark Cartwright had managed to keep the signing of the Belgian starlet away from the public. According to reports the an agreement was reached two weeks before the actual announcement.

The 15-year-old has represented his country in the under-16 team and joins fellow countrymen Adnan Januzaj, Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard in the Premier League.

Damien Francis, a representative of Ngoy’s agency was quoted as saying: “He’s started well, so we’re just going to see how he progresses and gets on.

“In Belgium, he plays for the national team so we’ve got high hopes for him. For a 15-year-old he’s very talented. If he keeps his feet on the ground and works hard, the sky’s the limit for him.

“He’s a young lad, so he’s got to keep his feet on the ground, and work hard in order to make it. He’s done nothing in the game, in reality, because he’s got a long career ahead of him.”
