Rumour: Chelsea wonderkid wants permanent La Liga move

Serial loanee Thibaut Courtois could be set to talk to other clubs about a permanent transfer after his agent asked Chelsea for permission to do so.

Courtois, 21, has been on-loan at Atletico Madrid for three seasons and has never played for Chelsea but he could command a fee of over £20 million in the summer should the Blues allow him to leave.

Petr Cech still has several years left at the top of the game so it would be hard for Chelsea to find time and space for Courtois at Stamford Bridge.

His performances and growth into a top-class goalkeeper over the last few years have seen him become his country’s number one goalkeeper as well as one of the most coveted young footballers in the world.

He has two years left on his contract with Chelsea so a move away in the summer is a huge possibility.

According to the Evening Standard, he said: “I know this, but it depends on Chelsea and what they ask. First, my agent is talking to Chelsea, to ask if I could talk to other clubs. Then we’ll know a bit more. Atletico will wait for what Chelsea has to say.

“First, we want to hear from Chelsea what they are going to do and then we’ll see.”

Courtois averages 1.55 saves per game and 2.82 per goal conceded.
