Victor Wanyama: To Manchester United?

Reported Manchester United target, Victor Wanyama, is set to receive a new contract from Celtic, who fear the Red Devils may offer him a £10 million deal, creating speculation among the fans. Wanyama who has moved from Belgian club Beerschot AC to Celtic has been impressive with the ball and has sparked interest in Sir Alex Ferguson. The Glasgow club may have realised this and are currently negotiating with him.

“It is true that Celtic have made a new offer to improve Victor’s contract,” agent Ivan Modia said in the Daily Express.

“It is currently being considered but it would be a little premature to say we are close to an agreement.

“There will be further talks with Celtic but as yet we haven’t set a time or place for those talks.

“Victor has a contract with Celtic until 2014. He still has a bit of time on his contract and Victor loves it at Celtic.

“He is happy so there is no rush but we will wait and see what happens when we get around the table with Celtic.” He added.

Victor Wanyama is a perfect fit for Manchester United’s midfield as the club has been accused of lacking a solid midfield this season.

The Kenyan played one complete season with Celtic and has been a great influence on the pitch. Playing 8 games this season, the 21 year old scored 2 goals and has a possession rate of almost 76%. Sir Alex Ferguson has been linked to the Kenyan international with an investment of £10 million to bring him to Old Trafford.

If a transfer were to happen in January, which is the usual time for the transfer window to open, Wanyama cannot play for United in the Champions League as he would be cup-tied for the remaining season.

If Wanyama is offered a new contract by the Red Devils, his future along with Manchester United’s who have not had the best start this season, is secure.
