Was it Arsenal 3-0 Man United or Everton 1-0 Man United?

Everton v Manchester United - Premier League

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – AUGUST 20: Marouane Fellaini of Everton gestures during the Barclays Premier League match between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park on August 20, 2012 in Liverpool, England.

You might be mistaken to think Arsenal were playing against United yesterday, but no, they were not! On the contrary however, they seemed to have a lot of vested interest in the Everton-United game, with a lot of them taking to social networks to vent out their anger. What better way to start the vile chants by hitting out at their hero turned traitor for starting out on the bench?? Well, a field day they did have, with RVP20 failing to make a dream debut for their Manchester rivals.

United had to field a patched defense, and with only 2 recognized defenders in the game, you could almost feel David Moyes had an ace up his sleeve. It comes as no surprise that Fellaini finally got the best out of United through makeshift defender, Carrick. If this continues, well, United’s opponents sure know where to hurt them most now, right? You can bet the relief on United fans’ minds when they look at the fixture list and the next game is not Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester City. However, much credit to the England midfielder for giving it his all; was a decent performance, and for the first game of the season, well, there is still a long way to go.

Not the dream debut Van Persie hoped for

First blood to Arsenal when Van Persie started on the bench, and they drew second when he failed to score on his debut. However, nothing impressed Gunner fans more than their rivals failing to get anything from Goodison Park, and they will surely remember this day for a long time.

Everton played according to plan, and surely they deserved to win this. It might be hard for people like Alex Ferguson to come to terms with this, but United were second best by all means. Save for the prolonged periods of possession, which either way they were not able to turn into goals, there was much to be desired, especially from Wayne Rooney and Nani. On the other hand, it was in impressive debut for Shinji Kagawa, and you can almost look forward to a lot of him. Just one thing though, where was Nick Powell?

So 16th position it is for United, sounds like a rather familiar place, especially since they usually start off slow and pick up pace as they go. However, be warned United, this time, everyone is gunning for top honors, and a slow start might just be what you are not looking for.
