Is Wayne Rooney to Chelsea just hype?

As we approach the January transfer window, expect plenty of players to be linked with moves in and out of the club. It’s started already with Chelsea being linked with another move for Wayne Rooney. I cannot see it happening.

We all know what happened last summer. Chelsea made three bids to try and sign Rooney and those bids were rejected as United Manager David Moyes had no intention of selling the player.

It’s now safe to say that Wayne Rooney has become an integral part of Moyes’s plans including being given the captain’s armband in midweek. It seems as though another approach for Rooney wouldn’t be welcomed by United and any attempt Chelsea make would be rejected as firmly as it had been previously.

My opinion is that although it’s obvious Mourinho likes Rooney, he has admitted defeat and will look elsewhere. I am still 100% convinced that a deal has been agreed with Robert Lewandowski and he is now Mourinho’s number one choice bearing in mind the financial constraints of trying to sign Rooney who has still got 18 months left on his current deal.

Rooney is a fantastic player, of that there is little doubt and I personally believe has I have said time and time again, that he could play the Eidur Gudjohnsen role for Mourinho this time around if we somehow did manage to sign him.

With reports that although talks of a new contract have not started between United and Wayne Rooney, it’s believed that a massive deal is in the pipeline to keep him at Old Trafford.

All I am saying here is, “Don’t believe the hype” when it comes to reports of us being linked with another move for Rooney. We had our best chance last summer and it never happened!
