Shotguns in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 are insanely powerful. When using these powerful weapons for close-range combat, the odds of an opponent surviving a direct hit are slim to none. Even if headshots cannot be landed, bodyshots will deal enough damage to seal the deal.

As part of the "This Season" Challenge, for week four, players have to leverage the power of the shotgun in-game to earn experience points. The goal is simple: Damage players with a shotgun from 10 meters or less. Those who manage to complete the task will be rewarded 12,000 XP.

A step-by-step guide on how to damage players with a shotgun from 10 meters or less in Fortnite

1) Find a shotgun

The first step to completing this task is to find a shotgun. In the current loot pool, there are three shotguns that players can choose from: Maven Auto, Combat, and Havoc Pump. Although each weapon has its own pros and cons, all of them are deadly in combat.

That said, for players interested in a shotgun that offers a bit more range, the Combat Shotgun is the best choice. However, for those looking for a shotgun with more firepower, the Havoc Pump Shotgun is the best option for the job. Lastly, for those wanting rapid firepower, the Maven Auto Shotgun is a good fit.

Coming back to the 'finding' part, players can find shotguns all over the island. They can be bought from Vending Machines and Holo-Chests, obtained by searching Chests, and picked up from the ground as Floor Loot. Furthermore, NPCs such as Garrison, P33ly, Polar Patroller, and Sunflower also sell shotguns.

2) Engage an opponent in combat and deal damage to them

Once a shotgun has been obtained, the next step of the Challenge will be to find an opponent and deal a total of 300 damage. There are two ways to go about this task: Players can either knock down an opponent with any other weapon and then use a shotgun to deal damage or simply use a shotgun to deal damage in regular combat.

For experienced players who are adept at close-range fighting, the second method will be the fastest. Depending on how many hit-points (health and shields) the opponent has, two will have to be eliminated to complete the task.

Alternatively, players can disengage and allow their opponents to heal before re-engaging. In this manner, dealing damage to one opponent should be enough to complete the task.

For beginners or those not proficient enough to use a shotgun in combat, they can knock down an opponent using an SMR or AR. Once knocked, they can move into shotgun range and use it to eliminate them from the match. However, keep in mind that this method can only be used in Duos, Trios, or Squads mode.
