Extreme Fortnite players and enthusiasts have been trying to reach the highest level possible in-game for years now. While their methods are sometimes debatable, there's no doubt that many hours are sunk into gaining experience points to level up.

While that's a good thing in most scenarios, this season, things have taken an unexpected turn, and it has to do with the Chrome Punk skin. Those who have overshot the 1,000-level limit are in for some bad news.

The Chrome Punk skin and other cosmetics related to the set are free but can only be obtained by gaining levels: 10 to unlock the Chromeseed Back Bling, 25 to unlock Graveyard Rave Loading Screen, and 50 to unlock the Chrome Punk Outfit.

This isn't a big deal since players have roughly a month in hand to level up 50 times. Even though each level requires 80,000 XP to complete, it's relatively easy if daily/weekly challenges are completed on a regular basis.

However, after leveling up to a certain threshold, Epic Games has made certain that players can't level up anymore. The system itself stops working, and XP is not displayed correctly.

This has become a problem for players like Lele Stw Moment, who have already crossed the 1,000-level mark. Since it's impossible to gain 50 more levels from this point onward, there's no way to unlock the Chrome Punk skin.

Quite frankly, since the Battle Pass rewards end at level 200, leveling up beyond that is moot, according to the developers and some community members alike. Of course, while players can still do it, there's no benefit to be had. With that said, there is a silver lining for players who have reached level 1,000.

Fortnite Chapter 4 will offer a fresh start for everyone

There's no need to panic for players who have reached level 1,000 this season. It seems as if Epic Games considered this level cap while adding the Chrome Punk skin to the game.

As per the official information, players will have up to January 1, 2023, to obtain the skin and other cosmetic items related to the set. With Fortnite Chapter 4 slated to begin on December 2, 2022, everyone's levels in-game will be reset. This will allow all players to start from scratch and work towards leveling up 50 times.

That said, this will not affect those who have already leveled up in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 and have progressed towards unlocking Chrome Punk. For instance, if they have earned four account levels this season, they only need to earn another 46 in the next to unlock the cosmetic item.

Based on rough calculations, new players (or those who still need to unlock Chrome Punk) will have about a month to reach level 50. Depending on average playtime, XP gained from daily/weekly challenges, and XP required per level, it should take at most two to three weeks at max.
