Fortnite: Zoe and Helsie are connected in a way no one imagined

It's not strange for Fortnite characters to be connected or, as a matter of fact, even related in-game. Given that the metaverse is alive and breathing, human-connections are part and parcel of things.

While some relationships like that between Geno and his daughters (The Imagined and Order) are violent, others such as Kit and Meowscles are more wholesome. On that note, there's a new mystery relationship that has taken the community by storm.

Zoe and Helsie are connected by the power of "Boba" in Fortnite Chapter 4

Zoe Clash was introduced in Chapter 3 Season 2 and is part of the Mainframe Break Set. Unlike other cosmetics that can be purchased from the Item Shop using V-Bucks, this set costs real money. This is due to the fact that the cosmetics are featured in a starter pack.

Helsie, on the other hand, is a Battle Pass exclusive for Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. To unlock her, players need to reach page 11 and spend nine Battle Stars. She has additional styles that can be unlocked by spending more Battle Stars and completing the "Midseason Drops” challenge.

Although the characters are poles apart in terms of design and esthetics, they seem to share a common love for Boba. How this came to be is rather unclear, but there is evidence to support the statement. As pointed out by Reddit user KvasirTheOld, both skins feature a bunny head on their apparel.

Using this connection, there's a cross-reference between another asset integrated into Zoe's outfit. Alongside the bunny head, a cup of what can be presumed to be Boba tea can be seen on the shoulder. Since Helsie's description pegs her as a "Boba Master," this is not a mere coincidence.

While this may be a fluke or Epic Games reusing assets to fill up the gaps, that's unlikely to be the case. Given that several notable characters are known to have relationships in-game, this is nothing new. However, the basis of their relationship is unknown. Thus, for the time being, the community has based it on their love for "Boba."

Will Epic Games reveal Zoe's and Helsie's relationship via lore?

While the developers providing clarity on the subject will no doubt be useful to build a better narrative, they are unlikely to do so. Since they allow the community to formulate their own opinions and add to the ever-growing lore of Fortnite, they will leave things open to interpretation.

On that note, it's rather odd how two very extremely different characters share a connection in-game. For starters, Zoe is cel-shaded, while Helsie is a normal cosmetic. While the latter is a vampire-hunter, the former seems to have nothing to do with hunting the undead.

Nevertheless, given how vast Fortnite is, it can only be assumed that in some timeline, Zoe and Helsie met in another reality. Quite possibly over the course of a few adventures, they exchanged cosmetic assets (bunny heads) and wore them to remind themselves of the good times they shared and the Boba infused beverage that they drank.
