There are a lot of Fortnite challenges or quests available, and every week, more are added. Completing them is the best way to level up, as they often provide players with a lot of XP and can help quickly unlock plenty of Battle Pass rewards. There are weekly, daily, seasonal, and other kinds of quests that one can attempt in this title.

One of these challenges available now involves giving a hired Specialist character a command. That's not exactly straightforward and won't happen organically. Fortunately, it's still pretty easy to accomplish. Here's how to do it in Chapter 4 Season 2.

Load up the game. There was a weekly patch released recently, so you may have to update the application first. Once the game is up to date, you can start it on your console or computer. When it loads, be sure to log in to the appropriate account.

From the lobby, start a match. Since you're mainly doing this for the challenge, it might be advisable to do it in Solo mode. However, it will work in Duos, Trios, Squads, and Zero Build too.

Step 2: Find a Specialist NPC

These NPCs qualify as Specialists:

  • Polar Patroller
  • Longshot
  • Insight
  • Sludge
  • Munitions Expert
  • Garrison
  • Remedy
  • Triage Trooper

They're located at the spots outlined above on the island. Go to one and hire an NPC by interacting with them and selecting the Hire option on the wheel.

Step 3: Click the Command button

Once you've hired an NPC, the Command button will show up. It is located in the top-right corner of the screen. This button varies by device. For a PC, it's the middle mouse button; however, it will be different for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and others. Be sure to press and hold down on the button displayed on your screen for the requisite amount of time.

Step 4: Select a command

There are four different commands that you can give to a Specialist. You can have them to follow you, go to a marked point on the map, wait where they are, and even revive a teammate that's downed.

Selecting any one of these commands will complete the challenge. However, not all of them will actually trigger an action. The revive teammate command only works if an ally is downed and is thus only available in Fortnite Duos, Trios, or Squads.

The other three will happen automatically and will let you complete the challenge, though. This will grant you a reward immediately in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2.
