INDIAN ARCHERY TEAM
Indian women’s recurve archery team, who recently lost to China in the quarter finals of World Cup stage 3 at Antalya are currently ranked 3 in the latest Fédération Internationale de Tir à l’Arc (FITA) World rankings. Indian team with a total of 307 points are behind Korea (414) and China (394).
Indian men’s recurve team, who won the Silver medal at World Cup Stage-2 in Medelin have slipped down by one postion after their first round defeat in Antalya. They currently stand at 7th spot in the latest FITA World Rankings. Korean team holds the top spot whereas USA and Mexico are at second and third positions respectively.
In recurve mixed team event,India are ranked 4th in the world.
In compound section, Indian men’s team is at 9th place while women’s team is at 8th place.
In compound mixed team event, India with a total of 248 points occupy the 8th position.
INDIAN FOOTBALL TEAM
The Indian men’s football team, with a total of 147 points, are currently ranked 154th in the world out of 207 nations. In Asia, India remain 28th amongst 46 nations.
India have fared better than neighbours Bangladesh (167), Pakistan (165), Nepal (164), Sri Lanka (179) and Bhutan (207), but they are behind Saudi Arabia (90) and the People’s Republic of China (103).
Spanish team who were knocked out in the group stage of the ongoing 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup hold the top spot, while Germany and Brazil are placed second and third respectively.
Indian women’s football team are in a much better postion as they moved one place up to grab the 50th spot among 175 nations in the latest FIFA rankings.
The team with a total of 1431 points also grabbed 11th position in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rankings.
Team USA, Germany and Japan are on first,second and third positions respectively.
INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM
The Indian men’s Hockey team who recently finished 9th in the 13th edition of World Cup in Hague, Netherlands are currently ranked 8th in the latest International Hockey Federation (FIH) men’s rankings.
Indian team with a total of 1515 points are 2nd in the Asian region behind Korea. World Champions Australia occupy the top spot, while Germany are placed second.
Indian women’s team, who recently thrashed Malaysia 6-0 in a six-match test series are ranked 13th in the world. In the Asian region, Indian team is at 4th place behind China,Japan and Korea. Netherlands are on top followed by Argentina and England.
Both men’s and women’s team will next play in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games starting 23rd July.
INDIAN CRICKET TEAM
After going down to New Zealand 4-0 in January, India’s One-day International (ODI) ranking took a hit as they have moved down to 3rd place in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings. Indian team led by Suresh Raina beat Bangladesh 2-0 in a three match series. They will play a 5-match ODI series against England in August.
Australian team are on the top spot whereas Srilanka are placed second.
Indian team, who are gearing up for a 5- match test series against England are currently on 5th place in the latest ICC Test rankings.
Indian team with a total rating of 102 are behind Australia (123), South Africa (123), England (104) and Pakistan (103).
After finishing as runners-up in the T-20 World Cup, Indian team moved to the top spot in the latest T-20 World rankings.
Indian women’s cricket team are at fourth place in ODIs and at fifth place in the T20 format.
INDIAN TENNIS TEAM
Ranked 23rd in the world, India's Davis Cup team will next play World No. 2 Serbia in a home tie for a place in the World stage. Indian team, who swept Chinese Taipei 5-0 in February this year, has 1905 points.
Czech Republic with a total of 44093.75 points holds the top spot.
In the Fed Cup, the Indian girls have moved down 5 spots from their previous ranking, and are now at 59th position with 523 points. After losing to China 1-2 in Asia Oceania Group II tie in February, Indian team did not make the cut to Asia/Oceania Zone Group I.
With a total of 31445.00 points, Czech Republic is the No. 1 team in the world.
Among individual players, Somdev Devvarman is India’s highest ranked singles player at No. 125, followed by Yuki Bhambri at No. 155. In women’s singles, Ankita Raina is the top most Indian at No. 289, followed by Prarthana Thombare at No. 353.
In doubles, Leander Paes is the highest-ranked male player at No. 13, followed by Rohan Bopanna at No. 17. Among the women, Sania Mirza is ranked the highest at No. 6, and after her comes Sowjanya Bavisetti at No. 437.
INDIAN BADMINTON TEAM
In the individual rankings, Indian Badminton star and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal is ranked 9. Indian teenage badminton sensation and 2013 World Championships bronze medalist P.V. Sindhu holds the 10th spot.
As far as women’s doubles rankings are concerned, Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta are the highest placed Indians at 26th with 33656 points.
In junior rankings, India’s Aditya Joshi is 16th in boys singles and Ruthvika Shivani is 10th in girls singles.
In mixed doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa & Kona Tarun are ranked 37 in the world. The pairings of Arun Vishnu & Aparna Balan and Abhijeet Naimpally & Trupti Murgunde are ranked 52 and 92 respectively.
In men’s singles, Parupalli Kashyap is ranked 18, while Srikanth Kidambi is ranked 29th in the world. In men’s doubles, the pairs of Manu Attri & Sumeeth Reddy and Pranaav Chopra & Akshay Dewalkar are ranked 44 and 45 respectively. Alwin Francis & Arun Vishnu occupy the 73rd place.
INDIAN BASKETBALL TEAM
Indian men’s basketball team, who won the Gold medal at the 3rd Lusofonia games held at Goa earlier this year are currently ranked 61 out of 85 nations in the latest FIBA rankings.
Indian team with a mere 6.9 points are on 11th spot in the Asian region. American team, with a total of 940 points are on top, while Spain with 885 points are placed second.
The Indian team will next compete in the inaugural B & B International basketball championships to be held in Dubai later this year.
Indian women’s team with a total of 15.6 points are on 40th postion out of 73 playing nations.In the Asian region, the Indian women’s team 5th behind China, Korea, Japan and Chinese Taipei.
INDIAN VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Volleyball, which is quite a popular sport in India at schools and colleges is not so popular when it comes to higher levels.
Unfortunately, at the higher level, not many youngsters want to make their career in this game. This is why the ranking of Indian men’s and women’s volleyball team is not that impressive.
Indian men’s team, with a total of 20 points are 34th in the world out of 127 nations. Brazil with 345 points are the No. 1 team followed by Russia who have 342 points.
Indian women’s volleyball team is one of the weakest in the world as they are ranked 100 out of 113 playing countries.
In junior section of the game, Indian boys with a total of 53 points are ranked 17th in the world. Indian boys, who made it to the last 8 of the U-21 World Championships in Ankara, Turkey last year are ranked 4th in the Asian region.
Junior girls, with a total of 20 points are ranked 29th.
INDIAN NETBALL TEAM
Indian team is showing steady improvement in Netball.
Indian women’s Netball team with a total of 53 points are currently at the 30th position out of 35 teams.
INDIAN RUGBY TEAM
Rugby is not one of the popular sports in our country and as a result, the Indian team is one of the weakest. As per the latest World Rankings by International Rugby Board (IRB), Indian men’s team with a total of 39.37 points are currently at 74th position out of 102-playing nations.
They are currently playing the Asian 5 Nation Tournament in Lahore & would be looking to improve their ranking in the next few months. They have already failed to qualify for the 2015 World Cup, which will be held in England.
New Zealand with a total of 93.81 holds the first spot, whereas South Africa are placed second. Indian women’s rugby team are ranked 61st in the world.
INDIAN SEPAKTAKRAW TEAM
Sepak-Takraw is a very popular sport in the northeastern states of Manipur and Mizoram. Indian men’s team who won the bronze medal in the World Super Series held at New Delhi last year are currently ranked 9th in the latest International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) World rankings with a total of 1315 points.
In the women’s section, Indian team are currently ranked 7th in the World with a total of 1040 points.
Thailand is at the top place in both men’s and women’s categories.
