Although Phil Mickelson didn't have a great week at the PGA Championship, he didn't leave his fans disappointed with some fun interactions. The veteran had a fun banter with one fan at the Valhalla Golf Club, leaving everyone in splits.

Mickelson, a two-time PGA champion, was making his 31st appearance at the tournament this week. However, he failed to make the cut this time after shooting a 4-over in two rounds.

A TikTok handle, leftymemesphil, shared a clip where Phil Mickelson can be seen walking while one fan is heard saying:

"Phil! 1000 cents, no birdie here."

Mickelson had a witty response:

"I am not a gambling man."

The golfer has been notorious for his gambling habits, and it has been widely reported that he has lost a lot of money gambling. In his past interviews, he has accepted that his gambling habits were out of control, which affected his family and friends.

Last year, Mickelson announced that he wouldn't bet because he had crossed the line of moderation and had become addicted to it. He also accepted the mistaking of the 'enablers' as his friends.

"After many years of receiving professional help, not gambling, and being in recovery from my addictions, I’m now able to sit still, be present in the moment and live each day with an inner calm and peace.
"I still have a lot of cleaning up to do with those I love the most but I’m doing it slowly and as best I can," he wrote last year.

How did Phil Mickelson perform at the PGA Championship 2024?

Phil Mickelson started his week at the Valhalla Golf Club with a 3-over 74 in the opening round.

He had a rough start, bogeying the first hole and then making a double bogey on the next. With four birdies in the next twelve holes, he was able to go under par, but he lost track again with two bogeys and a double bogey in the final five holes.

In the second round, the six-time major champion was in dire need of a low score. He had a cleaner performance on Friday, May 18, but it wasn't enough to make the cut. He started with a birdie on the par-5 hole 10 and made a series of pars before bogeying the eighth hole of the day.

On the back nine, Phil Mickelson made two more bogeys and just one birdie, finishing the round at 1-over 72. As a result, he missed the cut by three strokes. This was his fourth missed cut at the PGA Championship and first since 2018.
