The 2023 PGA Championship's Oak Hill Country Club course has not been kind to many. Unfortunately for Jon Rahm, the weekend is not going as planned. The World No. 1 is struggling to say the least, currently sitting at T51 halfway through the third round.
With this not going Rahm's way, it has been hard for him to keep it together. On the fifth hole of the third round, his ball scooted out because of the moisture, going farther away from the hole than Rahm would have liked.
Rahm lost his temper quickly and smashed his golf club into the mic that was near him, producing a rather unpleasant, shrill sound. It left the nearby audience and commentators in shock.

It is not the first time this weekend that Jon Rahm has lost his temper on course. During the 11th hole in the second round, his shot landed on the green but sadly skipped past the back edge. In a pure display of anger, Rahm was caught on the hot mics saying:
“Great hole, PGA. Great f-ing hole.”

Jon Rahm entered the PGA Championship as a favorite to win alongside Scottie Scheffler. His chances of winning swiftly evaporated as he carded a 76 in his first round, six over par. He made a return in the second round with a 68, but it appears unlikely that he will fare well in the Championship.
In fact, Rahm set a new record for the worst opening round by a World No. 1 at the PGA Championship. The previous record was held at a +5 by Tiger Woods (2005) and Greg Norman(1980).
Talking about his disappointing first round, Rahm said via Yahoo:
"Doesn't even need to go far, and you have a short iron into a pin. That's doable today. I wasn't happy [after No. 12]. Knowing that those next three holes were doable, I tried to be a little bit more aggressive and go after it and hit the shots I needed to and made the birdies I needed to."
Currently, Scottie Scheffler, Corey Conners, and Viktor Hovland hold a combined lead going into Round 3. They are closely followed by Justin Suh and Brooks Koepka. With the course being a rather difficult one to navigate, the top spot is open for anyone.
