Why did Bryson DeChambeau Officially Leave LIV Golf vs PGA Tour lawsuit? Real reason explored

Bryson DeChambeau was one of the final two players to withdraw their names from the lawsuit against PGA Tour

Bryson DeChambeau and Matt Jones were the last names to drop out of the lawsuit against the PGA Tour, which initially comprised 11 LIV Golfers. On May 11, both golfers dropped their names from the lawsuit, leaving only LIV Golf against the Tour.

As per Sportico, the lawyers of Jones and Dechambeau submitted a voluntary release 'with prejudice' in a California Federal Cout, which meant the duo couldn't resubmit their claims after that.

As per LIV Golf, both golfers wanted to focus on their careers on the PGA Tour. For the uninitiated, PGA Tour counter-sued the breakaway league along with its major sponsor, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), and PIF’s governor, Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan.

Before Jones and DeChambeau, Peter Uihlein also pulled out of the lawsuit after he received a deposition from PGA Tour regarding the information about him joining the Saudi-backed circuit.

The Tour also inquired about whether Uihlein and the other golfers were given any assurances regarding their PGA Tour contract breach.

In all likelihood, Jones and DeChambeau might have dropped out of the lawsuit due to similar reasons.

The lawsuit initially included 11 golfers - Jones, Dechambeau, Peter Uihlein, Carlos Ortiz, Abraham Ancer, Jason Kokrak, Pat Perez, Phil Mickelson, Talor Gooch, Hudson Swafford, and Ian Poulter - against their suspension from the PGA Tour events.

However, PGA Tour denied the claims stating that the Saudi-backed golfers were earning more money from the breakaway league and they had agreed to the PGA Tour terms by signing the contract.

Nevertheless, the lawsuit has taken a lot of turns since then with LIV complaining about PGA Tour's monopoly over the market and its influence on the sponsors.

A few days ago, Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, and Sergio Garcia were interrogated by the United States Department of Justice about the antitrust investigation of the PGA Tour.

Last year, the Department of Justice reportedly started probing about alleged manipulation by PGA Tour over the sports market against the upstart league. The department also investigated the close relations between PGA Tour officials and the authorities at the Masters, PGA Championship, and US Open.
