Jackson Van Paris had an outstanding weekend, picking up a win at the inaugural St. Andrews Links collegiate title. Currently playing for Vanderbilt, the junior won the St. Andrews Links Collegiate in Scotland after shooting a 9 under 131. Playing on the Jubilee Course, he beat his teammate Cole Sherwood by three shots.

It was the effort of both Vanderbilt golfers that has now led them to secure a top spot for Wednesday's match play, where the No. 3 ranked Commodores will go up against top-ranked North Carolina. The championship match will be held at the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Speaking about his win via NBC Sports, Jackson Van Paris said:

"It wasn’t as easy today as it was yesterday. The golf felt a little more difficult. I was lucky to still make some putts and I had a few good breaks here and there and that’s what you need to win."

The St. Andrews Links Collegiate included the men's and women's golf teams from North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgetown, and Notre Dame. All the squads faced off in 36-hole stroke play. However, for the championship finals, teams will now have match play.

Coach Scott Limbaugh praises Jackson Van Paris' performance at St. Andrews Links

Needless to say, Jackson Van Paris' coach, Scott Limbaugh, was incredibly proud of him after the win in Scotland. This was the first time Van Paris played in a televised match, and winning it was his crowning moment.

Limbaugh said, via the aforementioned source:

"He played great [Jackson Van Paris]. He’s really a kid who really knows how to keep his ball low to the ground, has an unbelievable short game and has a great imagination. I thought when we got to this golf course, and I said to my assistant coach, I really like Jackson this week, so I’m just super pumped for him."

The women's side too will see Vanderbilt face off against North Carolina, as the other two teams will battle it out for third and fourth place. Van Paris' performance was an impressive one, as he carded a 64 and 67. Sherwood, on the other hand, carded a 68 and 66 to take second place.
