The 2023 PGA Championship is in round 4. The tournament is on the verge of ending and fans are wondering what happens if two or more players end up in a tie.

If Oak Hill Country Club witnesses a tie between two or more golfers, then there will be a playoff to decide who comes out on top.

However, the rules of playoffs in the PGA Championship are different from the British Open and U.S. Open, who use a four-hole aggregate playoff and 18-hole play, respectively. The PGA Championship, on the other hand, uses a three-hole aggregate playoff, and if the playoff has a tie, we move into sudden death.

How will the 2023 PGA Championship playoff be played?

If two or more golfers are tied after the end of round four, then the PGA Championship playoff rule will be implied. At first, all the tied golfers will be scheduled to play in a three-hole aggregate playoff.

This will be played from hole number 14 to hole number 15 and later on at hole number 18. The golfer with the lowest score will be deemed the winner.

But if the three-hole aggregate playoff also ends up in a tie, then the tied golfers will move to a sudden-death hole-by-hole playoff match. This will start from hole number 18, then will move to hole number 14, and then to number 15. The play will keep on repeating hole-by-hole until the officials get a winner.
