GTA Online has been one of Rockstar Games' best assets in the last decade. Despite the multiplayer being massively successful, it did make some mistakes that the next entry in the franchise, GTA 6, should avoid at all costs. Although these shortcomings didn't affect Grand Theft Auto Online too much, preventing them may help the upcoming title deliver an even better experience.

So, here are five Grand Theft Auto Online mistakes that Grand Theft Auto 6 must not replicate. These apply to both the title's story mode and its currently unannounced online variant.

Permanently removing vehicles and 4 other GTA Online mistakes that GTA 6 should avoid at all costs

1) Exorbitant price tags

Buying weapons, properties, or vehicles in Grand Theft Auto Online can easily drain your Maze Bank account. A good example is the Mammoth F-160 Raiju, a fighter jet added with the San Andreas Mercenaries update that costs a whopping $6,855,000 on Warstock Cache and Carry.

Players can unlock its Trade Price to get a discount, but they will still have to pay over five million. Although the jet has many great qualities, its price tag is incredibly expensive. Similarly, there are many average vehicles that cost well over a million. Grand Theft Auto 6 should avoid these shortcomings and try to feature a more realistic economy instead.

2) Introducing futuristic items

Including futuristic weapons like the Widowmaker and Unholy Hellbringer, as well as vehicles like the Pegassi Oppressor MK II, Imponte Deluxo, and more, has probably been one of Grand Theft Auto Online's worst mistakes. While they may have been fun initially, most fans strongly believe they shouldn't be a part of this franchise.

Additionally, these futuristic items cause a lot of chaos in public multiplayer sessions when used by griefers in GTA Online. Rockstar should, hence, keep the experience as realistic and grounded as possible in GTA 6, as this has always been the series' primary appeal.

3) Permanently removing vehicles

One of the biggest talking points about Grand Theft Auto Online in mid-2023 was removing nearly 200 cars with the San Andreas Mercenaries update. Rockstar stated that only the lesser-used vehicles were being lifted. Some of these rides are now made available occasionally during weekly updates.

However, players should be able to purchase their favorite car whenever they want. The developer also stated that this was being done to streamline the browsing experience on in-game websites, but this could have been achieved by simply adding a search bar.

4) Having repetitive missions

Rockstar Games has released countless GTA Online updates in the last decade, but the accompanying missions have never tried to reinvent the wheel. While there certainly have been some enjoyable quests, like the various heists, the story missions have always been quite linear and easily become repetitive.

This is a mistake that Rockstar should definitely avoid, especially in the GTA 6 story mode. Having unique missions in the upcoming title that deviate from the studio's usual structure would truly provide a fresh experience.

5) Time-limited content

Time-limited content is often introduced in Grand Theft Auto Online, capitalizing on players' fear of missing out. This either comes in the form of vehicles or exclusive clothing items. While some might not consider it a big issue, newbies who arrive later don't get a chance to claim them.

Even if Rockstar continues adding time-limited content occasionally in Grand Theft Auto 6, it should ensure all players have a fair shot at in-game items. Not much is known about the game at the moment, but more information is expected to be revealed in GTA 6 trailer 2.
