5 ways in which Rockstar Games could have improved GTA 5 Story Mode on the PS5

GTA 5 has been around for close to a decade now. It was released back in 2013 — two console generations ago — and is now set to be relaunched yet again, with unique enhancements for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users. While the game's Story Mode was fantastic and memorable, it was GTA Online that has kept the game on players' hard drives all this while.

However, it has to be said that for a game with such a loyal fan base, the story mode never really got many expansions or enhancements over the years. Keeping that in mind for this article, we talk about what more Rockstar Games could have done to make things better when it came to the game's Story Mode.

GTA 5 Story Mode improvements Rockstar could have made

5) Accessible interiors

For an open world game, GTA 5 does have a lot of limitations when it comes to accessible interiors. Los Santos is a densely populated town with skyscrapers, docks, airports, clubs, homes, and more. Of these, only 112 are accessible. Even some buildings with windows are inaccessible. Mentioning windows is important as players can see the interiors, which are complete; why not just allow players to go in then?

4) More side activities

The GTA 5 story is quite long. If we only count the main story missions, it is a 31-hour-long battle. Players looking for that 100% completion medal will have to stick around for around 80 hours. With that said, the previous installments in the series — such as San Andreas — had a lot more for players to do after the story was complete. For instance, CJ could become a valet at a fancy hotel, maintain a quarry, become a courier, complete the export and import list, and a whole lot more.

3) Map expansions

Los Santos, along with Blaine County, is quite a large map. But for a game that has been around for a decade, it could have used a few expansions (not just one). The missions in the story and side stuff do take gamers all over the map, be it Paleto Bay, LSIA, Fort Zancudo or Grapeseed.

After a certain number of hours spent in the game, the roads begin to look and feel familiar enough to where the minimap is no longer needed. Gamers could have definitely used an expansion or two.

2) Graphics

GTA 5 was monumental when it came out; the graphics were crisp and realistic, unlike any other game of a similar scale. However, with time, it did get outdone by its own stablemade, Red Dead Redemption 2. PC graphics have always been the gold standard, but console graphics were not even close. The game has been screaming for a visual overhaul on the consoles. Thankfully, the upgrade is just two days away.

1) Story Mode DLCs

For any game that comes out these days, DLCs (downloadable content) usually follow soon after. Grand Theft Auto Online is no stranger to this as the developers are quite active on that front. Online players continue to get regular DLCs such as Cayo Perico Heist, Los Santos Tuners, Contract, Diamond Casino and Resort, and more.

Story Mode, on the other hand, was never touched by Rockstar. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 4, had two story mode expansions: The Ballad of Gay Tony and the Lost and the Damned. Grand Theft Auto 5 has none.
