GTA 5 RP FiveM servers ban real-world cars and map imports following their acquisition by Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 RP server mod client FiveM (recently acquired by Rockstar Games) has banned the use of real-world cars from all servers hosted on this platform. Additionally, FiveM users are now prohibited from importing maps of other games into FiveM RP servers, regardless of them being made by Rockstar or any other video game studio. These announcements were made in FiveM's Community Pulse blog for the month of October 2023.

Needless to say, the majority of players are disappointed with the news. Creative freedom is one of the biggest attractions of these RP servers, but users will now have to comply with copyright infringement laws.

Rockstar Games acquired the developers of popular GTA 5 RP server mod client FiveM, Cfx.re, in August 2023. A new Platform License Agreement was then released in September, which has now led to real-world cars being banned from all servers being hosted on FiveM.

FiveM also clarified that removing badges and branding from real-world car models (or their in-game versions from any other titles) would not be enough. Since FiveM is now officially a part of Rockstar, using such vehicles in RP servers without permission could result in copyright claims.

Therefore, all real-world vehicles will now have to be removed from FiveM RP servers in order to fully comply with the new Platform License Agreement. Players are, instead, encouraged to come up with their own unique vehicle designs.

Users were also informed that map imports, neither from Rockstar's titles nor other developers' games, are supported on FiveM and RedM (another one of Cfx.re's mod client) GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 RP servers.

While fresh content introduced with the recent GTA Online weekly update was appreciated by most players, FiveM's latest policies have caused a bit of despair.
