Bengaluru FC are all set to sign Mumbai City FC midfielder Alberto Noguera having agreed terms with the Spaniard, according to IFTWC - Indian Football.

The immensely experienced 34-year-old joined the Islanders in July 2022 after a two-year stint with FC Goa. Noguera, who has played for several Spanish clubs in his career over the years, contributed with five goals and ten assists for the Gaurs. He was also a part of the victorious 2021 Duran Cup-winning FC Goa squad.

Last season, he was instrumental in Mumbai City FC clinching the ISL League Winners' Shield, contributing four goals and an assist. In the eleven matches he has played for the club in the ongoing 2023-24 season, the Madrid-based player has registered a goal and a solitary assist.

A forgettable season of Indian football for Bengaluru FC

From failing to qualify for the knockouts in both the 2023 Durand Cup as well as the 2024 Indian Super Cup, Bengaluru FC have had a forgettable season of Indian football.

The side finished second with five points in Group C which comprised Gokulam Kerala FC, Kerala Blasters FC and Indian Air Force during the 2023 Durand Cup. The inaugural Indian Super Cup champions failed to qualify for the semi-finals of this year's tournament, having finished third in Group D after managing just a draw and two losses.

Adding to their woes, the Blues who replaced head coach Simon Grayson with Gerard Zaragoza mid-season, finished tenth among the twelve teams in the 2023-24 ISL with 22 points from as many matches. Bengaluru FC also failed to win even a single fixture outside the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, with all their five victories in this ISL edition coming at home.

Given the vast experience of Alberto Noguera and his familiarity with the ISL, he will be a huge asset for last season's runners-up, who will be looking to bounce back stronger from the disappointment of a poor outing.
