MMA News: Punk challenged again, this time by former UFC fighter Phil Baroni

Everbody wants Punk!

CM Punk has been a huge attraction in the MMA world ever since he announced his transition to the sport. After his lopsided loss to Mickey Gall, there have been series of fighters out there who are trying to grasp at a lifetime opportunity at a big-money fight.

The latest one to offer Punk a beat down was former UFC fighter, Phil Baroni.

There have been many UFC fighters who have been criticising his move to MMA but also willing to give him a fight.

CM Punk, however, has been stubborn about fighting a legitimate mixed martial artist rather than a person who wants to make a name out of himself by getting to fight the former WWE Champion in the UFC, or anyone less experienced.

Baroni called CM Punk via twitter stating that he would like to be the next opponent for ‘the best in the world’-

Despite the 40-year-old turning out to be way more experienced than Punk, his career lately hasn’t exactly helped him build an impressive resume. His last ten fights consisted on only two wins and seven losses.

So the possibility of signing with the UFC appears way to less. So the only probable chances his dreams of fighting Punk would be a reality only outside the Octagon, in some other promotion.

‘The New York Bad Ass’ Phil Baroni has fought in the UFC at welterweight and middleweight. The veteran has a fight record of 15 wins and 18 losses, with his latest fight in June 2014 when he fought at Ballator 122 against former UFC fighter Karo Parisyan. Baroni didn’t enjoy a successful career in the UFC during his time with the company.
