Aljamain Sterling believes there's a clear winner in the debate regarding the greatest fighter in the UFC right now.

'Funk Master' won the bantamweight title in contentious circumstances against Petr Yan. Overcoming doubters and endless criticism, he defended his title against the Russian before notching up another defense against TJ Dillashaw. With his recent performances, Sterling already has one of the best championship resumes at 135 pounds.

Aljamain Sterling was recently asked on Adam's Apple YouTube channel who he believes is the best fighter in the UFC, not including himself. He wasted no time in naming Jon Jones as the greatest, insisting that his skill set is far beyond anybody else's:

"I'm just gonna say, Jon Jones. You gotta say it's Jon Jones... He's in a talent pool where it's very different, like his skill set compared to everybody else, it's night and day."

Jon Jones is one of the biggest names to have ever emerged from the sport of mixed martial arts and is considered by many to be the greatest ever in MMA.

Having spent three years on the sidelines, 'Bones' came back and put on a phenomenal display when he submitted top heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane to capture UFC gold in his new weight class.

Jones has his sights set on a clash against the consensus greatest heavyweight of all time in Stipe Miocic. If he manages to beat Miocic, 'Bones' will further add to his claim as the best to ever do it.

Can Aljamain Sterling ever reach Jon Jones' level of legendary status?

At 33 years of age, it will be near impossible for Aljamain Sterling to achieve the things Jon Jones has done in the sport. That said, he can arguably position himself as an all-time great with a win in his next outing.

Henry Cejudo has been a two-weight UFC champion with a resume of wins that includes legendary fighters like Demetrious Johnson, Dominick Cruz, and TJ Dillashaw.

If 'Funk Master' is able to retain his title when he collides with the Olympic gold medalist next month, he will for sure go down as one of the best bantamweights the sport has ever seen.
