UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling has been quite busy recently playing matchmaker on Twitter. 'Funk Master' recently went on an all-out Twitter war rubbishing Umar Nurmagomedov's callout of Merab Dvalishvili.

Sterling and Dvalishvili are teammates and close friends, and 'The Machine' has made it clear that he won't be challenging for the title as long as 'Funk Master' holds the belt.

However, Dvalishvili is currently the No.1-ranked 135-pounder in the promotion. So when No. 11 seed Nurmagomedov popped up on Twitter calling for a fight against his teammate, Sterling was not pleased with the idea.

The Bantamweight champion suggested that Marlon Vera or Petr Yan were the appropriate fights for the Dagestani.

However, not everyone was so approving of the bantamweight kingpin's suggestions. Twitter user @zjpMMA blasted 'Funk Master', claiming that Nurmagomedov is ready to face the top contender.

Responding to the fight fan's rebuttal, Sterling reasoned that it doesn't make sense for Merab Dvalishvilli to fight someone so far down the rankings.

However, the fight fan didn't let up and went after the UFC champion, reasoning that Nurmagomedov might not want to face a fellow Russian like Yan, just like Sterling and Dvalishvilli don't want to fight each other owing to them being teammates.

Aljamain Sterling again countered the fight fan, this time with a rather factually incorrect statement, claiming that Dagestan and Russia are not the same countries. In reality, Dagestan is one of the 21 republics in Russia:

"Brother…. Dagestan and Russia are not the same country, my man….And what does the same country have to do with fighting each other? Now, you seem to want Merab to accept the fight, but you also say Chito won’t accept the fight. Brother, keep going. You’re on a roll now."

Aljamain Sterling next fight: The bantamweight champion vows to remind Henry Cejduo why he retired

Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo are scheduled to face each other in the octagon as the main attraction at UFC 288. With the event drawing near, 'Funk Master' seems more and more sure of his ability to triumph over 'Triple C'.

In a recent episode of DC & RC, Sterling, and Cejudo spoke to Daniel Cormier about the upcoming matchup. During the segment, a confident 'Funk Master' stated his intentions for the upcoming fight:

"There's no more talking, we're going to actually show up and do the work and do the da*n thing, and I can't wait to f**k this motherf****r up because he talks soo much from the sidelines like a little b***h, chirping... And I'm going to remind you why you retired in the first place."
