Colby Covington issues warning to Leon Edwards

UFC president Dana White recently claimed that Colby Covington's return to the octagon will come in a welterweight title bout against Leon Edwards. However, Edwards suggested that he may not sign the contract due to Covington's inactivity.

Covington has now issued a warning to the champion. Speaking with Mike Heck of MMA Fighting, the No.2-ranked welterweight said:

"Let me tell you one thing that I want to say to Leon - that mumbling f**king idiot. Such a f**king clown. First off, to Leon, let me take off these glasses for this. Leon, this is the only piece of advice that I'm ever going to give you. Only. Only. Because next you're going to get your a** whooped."

Covington continued:

"There's a saying that goes on, Leon, and shut your fumbling mouth, open your freaking stupid ears and listen to the advice I give because it's the only advice I'm going to give to you Leon. You don't cross your boss and you will learn the hard way. Remember that Leon. That's the only advice I'm giving you. You don't cross your boss."

Covington added that Leon Edwards did not really defend his title at UFC 286, as Kamaru Usman was a shell of himself due to his readiness to retire.

It remains unclear if 'Rocky' will refuse to sign a contract to face 'Chaos.'

Speaking to Mike Heck of MMA Fighting, Colby Covington stated that welterweight champion Leon Edwards will be stripped of his title if he refuses the matchup. He said:

"He will get stripped. He's not the draw in this division. I'm the draw... Leon's fumbling the whole time, mumbling out of his f**king mouth. There's no personality, no charisma... For Leon to sit there and act like he's Conor McGregor - you're not Conor McGregor, bro. You don't get to call the shots. You're a nobody."

As mentioned earlier, Edwards cited Covington's inactivity as the reason he is uninterested in the bout. The No.2-ranked welterweight has not fought in over a year since defeating Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272.
