UFC president Dana White believes now would be the perfect time to capitalize on the growing popularity of slap fighting.

The UFC chief recently teamed up with Lorenzo Fertitta to start their own power-slapping competition called 'Power Slap League'.

During a recent interview with TheMacLife, White discussed the massive potential of slap fighting and explained why it would be the perfect time to bring it into the big leagues:

"When you watch some of the stuff that's been very very low level and done, it's very compelling to watch on social media. Some of these places in Russia and Poland that have done it have 150 million views and billions of impressions. There are people out there that are actually really good at it. There are people out there that have great personalities and that I think can be big. Everything is about timing."

White added:

"I think the timing is right right now or we wouldn't have got this big television deal that we got. Like I said, the lower level, not done well stuff that's out there has 150 million views and billions of impressions."

Dana White is open to booking Khamzat Chimaev vs. Colby Covington on Usman-Edwards card

Dana White has expressed interest in a potential matchup between Khamzat Chimaev and Colby Covington in the past. However, it appears that the UFC chief is serious about the matchup and could finally make it happen.

During the same interview withTheMacLife, Oscar Willis pitched a matchup between Chimaev and Covington on the same card that would headline a trilogy bout between Usman and Edwards in England.

White seemingly loved the idea, suggesting that he would make the fight happen. The UFC president said:

"I agree with you. I'm on it. I'll get it done."

Khamzat Chimaev's coach hinted at a move up to middleweight after 'Borz' missed weight by a huge margin (7.5 pounds) ahead of UFC 279, resulting in an opponent switch.

However, it appears that the UFC wants the Chechen-born Swede to continue fighting at 170lbs.
