Tye Ruotolo is a man on a mission on November 3 as he looks to become the inaugural ONE welterweight submission grappling champion. The BJJ prodigy braces for a collision course with Russian veteran Magomed Abdulkadirov in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 16.

The two BJJ savants will go toe-to-toe against each other inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Tye wants to replicate the success of his twin brother, Kade, who now reigns as the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion.

But the elite Dagestani wrestling of the 32-year-old is what separates the 20-year-old American from this dream coming to fruition. In his most recent appearance on The MMA Superfan’s YouTube channel, Ruotolo recognized that this upcoming challenge will be tough.

The BJJ black belt holder, though, is not unfazed and has revealed that he will be the aggressor in the world title match. Tye is also confident that he’ll find a way to get his hand raised, depending on the type of situation in which the match unfolds.

The Atos representative said:

“For the most part, my plan is to dominate and to put on a show, so I'm going to go, take down, pass, and submit we'll see whatever it takes to get around his wrestling. You know I'm gonna find a window and gonna go head-to-head.”

Alongside his aggressive strategy, one-half of the famous Ruotolo brothers is also expected to bring momentum from his undefeated ONE Championship record of 4-0.

Tye Ruotolo has previously defeated other top names in the world’s largest martial arts organization, such as Garry Tonon, Marat Gafurov, Reinier De Ridder, and Dagi Arslanaliev.

Meanwhile, Abdulkadirov will carry his equally impressive credentials as a multiple-time UWW World Grappling champion and the European ADCC Grappling champion. The Universal Fighters-affiliated athlete is also a household name in the European grappling circuit.

ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video will air live on US Primetime free of charge for existing Prime Video subscribers in North America.
