Michael Bisping awards fellow countryman his "knockout of the year" award

There were plenty of exciting highlight-reel knockouts in the UFC in 2022 and Michael Bisping believes his countryman Leon Edwards deserves the Knockout of the Year Award.

Bisping uploaded a video to his YouTube channel where he broke down his top five knockouts in the UFC in 2022. He mentioned that after taking into consideration the circumstances surrounding the knockout, Edwards was deserving of the award, saying:

"Rounds 2, 3, and 4, they were fantastic for Kamaru {Usman} and terrible for Leon {Edwards} but it ain't over till it's over. And round 5, beautiful head-kick heard around the world. What did he say? 'Killshot. One and done.' Puts him down, that was it, sends him in the shadow realm. He's fast asleep, snoring with his eyes open and that was it, we got a new champ." {13:01 - 13:21}

'Rocky' pulled off an upset as it looked like 'The Nigerian Nightmare' was closing in on a unanimous decision win to retain his title. 'The Count' mentioned that the reigning UFC welterweight champion was deserving of his title shot and title win, saying:

"Absolutely over the moon for Leon {Edwards}...Of course, he lost to Kamaru {Usman} before, went on a nine or a 10-fight win streak. Beat some really big names, beat Nate Diaz, it was a beautiful win streak, so he more than deserved it - truly deserved it." {12:28 - 12:38}

Edwards defeating the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter via fifth-round knockout makes a strong argument for why he deserves 'Knockout of the Year.' It remains to be seen if a trilogy bout will come to fruition due to Usman's injury status.

Michael Bisping weighs in on Kamaru Usman possibly being ruled out for UFC 286

Michael Bisping weighed in on Kamaru Usman possibly being ruled out for UFC 286 due to his hand injury and the timing of the event.

Bisping uploaded a video to his YouTube channel where he talked about the ongoing situation regarding Leon Edwards' opponent for UFC 286 in London. He mentioned that of all the fighters that could possibly replace Usman, 'The Count' mentioned that Jorge Masvidal could surprisingly step in, saying:

"Guess what, there's a real storyline here. The last time Jorge Masvidal fought in London, he went up against Darren Till. He got the victory and then backstage, it was the infamous three piece and a soda incident...These guys {Masvidal and Leon Edwards} have beef, they have unfinished business, and they've got a score to settle." {4:07 - 4:32}

Masvidal getting a title shot in the event Usman is forced to withdraw from the event would definitely anger top contenders like Belal Muhammad, Khamzat Chimaev, and Colby Covington.
