This weekend's UFC 282 card was almost ready to take off without any hitches before a medical issue during the weigh-ins forced a fight cancelation.

A flyweight bout between Daniel da Silva (11-4) and Vinicius Salvador (14-4) was set to feature in the prelim card. However, da Silva stepped onto the scales three pounds over the limit at 129 lbs. The Brazilian was then given the allotted time to try and shave off the extra weight, but the fight was later canceled due to undisclosed medical reasons.

"Per UFC Officials: Daniel Da Silva vs. Vinicius Salvador is now OFF the #UFC282 card. Daniel missed weight. Due to a medical issue, Daniel Da Silva has been removed from his flyweight bout against Vinicius Salvador. As a result, this bout has been canceled from this weekend's card."

Although the extent of the medical issue has remained undisclosed, Daniel da Silva stated on Instagram that he was prevented from fighting by doctors due to an injury, not issues related to weight loss.

Translated to English, the flyweight fighter wrote:

"It has nothing to do with my weight loss, guys. It was an injury identified by doctors who prevented me from fighting. I wanted to fight but I was prevented. Now I'm taking care of my health and preserving my life"

Paddy Pimblett discusses mindset for first UFC PPV

Paddy Pimblett will make his promotional PPV debut tonight when he faces Jared Gordon for UFC 282's co-main event. 'The Baddy' has been one of the fastest-rising stars in the promotion since making his debut last year. The Liverpudlian has fought three times, finishing all of his opponents as well as earning himself a Performance of the Night bonus in each.

Pimblett's fourth fight, against 'Flash', is expected to be his toughest test in the octagon as yet, as he faces a veteran with 11 fights in the organization. According to Pimblett, though, he doesn't feel any pressure at all. During the weigh-in show, the 27-year-old explained his confident mindset heading into Saturday night:

"I don't feel pressure, lad. If you feel pressure, you're in the wrong sport...This is what I'm meant to do, I'm meant to do this...The only time maybe you get a few butterflies is when you to another gym to spar cause you don't know if they're going to try and take your head off or if they're going to be nice."
