5x Pro-Bowler DeAndre Hopkins was accused of ‘trashing’ his hotel room ahead of 2013 NFL Combine

Fans of Deandre Hopkins may rank the NFL Combine as one of the least insane events on the yearly calendar, but for prospects looking to get their foot in the door, it's one of the biggest weeks of their lives up to that point. Even so, fans are given a boost in news during the week as the league congregates in one spot.

One such story that broke headlines in 2013 was the allegedly bizarre state that DeAndre Hopkins and Mark Harrison's room was left in after their stay.

Put simply, the room was trashed and there were feeces and urine present. There was toothpaste on the mirror and witnesses claim there was no attempt to clean up the mess.

According to Yahoo! Sports via ESPN, Harrison was cleared of blame. According to FOXSports.com, Hopkins also denied any involvement in the destruction of the room.

Allegedly, he had left the night before the incident and told enquirers to check the cameras.

Of course, in the decade following the incident, it has become clear that the incident was far from derailing the receiver's career. In the 2013 NFL Draft, he was chosen 27th overall in the first round by the Houston Texans.

In his first season, Hopkins earned more than 800 yards and two touchdowns through the air. In 2014, he had his first 1000-yard season, beating the milestone by more than 20 percent and tripled his number of touchdowns.

He took another step up in 2015, when he earned more than 1500 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught a career high of 111 passes. In 2016, he took a step back and fell under 1000 yards, but rebounded again in 2017.

From 2017 until 2019, he earned at least 1150 yards each season and at least 1300 yards in every year. 2019 was his final year with the Houston Texans, as Bill O'Brien traded the wide receiver to the Arizona Cardinals.

Many point to the move being one of the main reasons for the team firing the head coach and general manager. Hopkins rewarded the team for their move. He earned 115 catches for 1407 yards and six touchdowns that season.

While his availability has been far from perfect over the last two seasons, he's shown that the twilight of his 20s isn't the end of his prime. In the games he did play, he stayed on pace for similar production to his previous years.

In 19 games of action between 2021 and 2022, he earned about 1200 yards and 11 touchdowns. Today, rumors claim the wide receiver could be looking to move to his third team. But is the new receiver entering another chapter in 2023?
