Former NFL linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer voiced his opinion over what's currently going on in Tennessee.

In the wake of gun protests, which have become a hot debate and topic in the United States, Hillenmeyer expressed his opinion following Tennessee's expulsion of two Democrats over gun protests.

Hillenmeyer tweeted:

"Never thought I’d feel ashamed to be a Tennessean. Seeing lots of 'time to pick a side' tweets in my timeline. There is no side on this. It’s not Republican vs. Democrat. It’s democracy vs. fascism. There should only be one side. Shame on us!"

Hillenmeyer was responding to the expulsion of state representative Justin Jones. Jones was expelled from the state of Tennessee for his protests on the chamber floor against gun violence.

The Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted 72-25 to expel Justin Jones and 69-26 to remove Justin Pearson for their actions.

They accused Jones and his party of engaging in "disorderly behavior" and intentionally bringing “disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives” during protests against gun violence last week.

Despite being expelled, Jones says he has no regrets and will continue to speak up for his people.

Jones said via CNN:

“What happened yesterday was a very sad day for democracy. The nation was able to see we don’t have democracy in Tennessee. I have no regrets. I will continue to stand up for my constituents.”
