Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen has been absent since Week 2 as he deals with a hamstring injury. The Chargers have clearly missed the 30-year-old on offense as LA sit second in the AFC West with a 5-4 record.

For Allen, his hamstring issue has lingered on for the best part of two months, but now there could be some light at the end of the tunnel.

The 30-year-old five-time Pro Bowler, along with fellow receiver Mike Williams, participated in practice for the third straight day, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic.

Given the nature of hamstring injuries, the Chargers may choose to be rather cautious with Allen as their playoff chances are currently teetering.

In four of their last five games, the Chargers have failed to score more than 20 points, which is unthinkable. But with Allen only playing two of the nine games, we get an idea of perhaps why the Chargers have struggled.

Practicing for the third straight day is undoubtedly a step in the right direction for the 30-year-old, but sometimes teams must protect players from themselves.

Bridget Condon of NFL Network spoke on the receiver's injury and revealed that he asked the receiver if he thinks he will play on Sunday.

"I was talking to Keenan Allen about this injury and he said its been so frustrating. It's like a rollercoaster, up and down, good and bad. So this week its about not facing any setbacks, doing a little bit more each day and I asked him, do you think you will play on Sunday, and he said to me, as of right now, yeah I do think I'll play."

It sounds rather positive for Chargers fans that perhaps they will have their No. 1 receiver on the field for a crucial division matchup.

The Chargers (5-4) face a Chiefs team (7-2) threatening to run away with the AFC West. A win over Kansas City on Sunday will undoubtedly help drag the Chargers back into contention.

While there is still a lot to play out with the 30-year-old's injury and recovery ahead of Sunday, the early indications are that the No. 13 could finally be suiting up for the first time since Week 2.

That will be music to Chargers fans' ears.
