NFL writer outlines major issue facing Tom Brady with $375 million payday on the table

Tom Brady, whenever he decides to retire from the NFL, is set to join the Fox broadcasting crew.

He has already signed a $375 million, 10-year deal to join their broadcasting crew when his playing days are over. This is similar to how former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo joined CBS after he retired.

NFL writer Andrew Marchand believes he can succeed like Romo did, but that there's a key issue with Brady, per the New York Post:

"I also think the thing that really helped Romo, those first couple of years, he was just off the field. He just been studying defenses for whatever many years he played 12-13 years. That's a huge advantage. Tom Brady is going to have that same advantage."

He added that Brady could do just as well as Peyton Manning on the Manningcast:

"And I do think with Brady, just like with Peyton Manning, when you see on the Manning cast, I think his brain works at a different level when he's watching football."

However, this poses a key issue:

"The question is 'can he go from football talk to human talk?' and that, sometimes, can be a problem. And also is he willing to say stuff? He said he wants to be like Johnny Miller. Well, it'll be pretty interesting..."

He also added:

"I think what gets is overrated is like, 'Will he criticize?'... When there's praise like Tim McCarver used to say there's no praise without criticism. But that's not really necessarily the job. The job is to tell us what we don't know and explain things simple. Can he do that? That's that's going to be a question."

Brady has a popular podcast and is unafraid to talk on there, but doing so on live television will be a different story.

When will Tom Brady retire and join Fox?

Fox initially thought they were going to get Tom Brady this season as he announced retirement in February. That didn't last, as he returned to the scene about a month later.

He probably isn't going to retire this year, either. Anything can happen, but he recently said he isn't considering retirement right now, so Fox will have to wait a little longer.
