Will Darren Waller play in Week 10 vs. the Colts?

This season was supposed to be a big one for tight end Darren Waller and the Las Vegas Raiders. After making the playoffs last season to then acquire receiver Davante Adams from Green Bay, many thought the Raiders could be Super Bowl challengers.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, that has not been the case. In Josh McDaniel's first season as head coach, there hasn't been much to get excited about with a 2-6 record through eight games. They've lost six of those by one score.

Many thought having Davante Adams would take the Raiders' offense over the top, but there haven't been others to help. Waller hasn't seen the field much in 2022. He is not projected to play in Week 10 against the Colts either.

The Raiders tight end was put on injured reserve this week after he aggrivated the hamstring injury that he sustained in the Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

With Waller being put on the injured reserve list, he has been ruled out of the next four games of the season.

With the Raiders' season essentially done at 2-6, there is no need to rush one of their best players back. Now, with the four-week block assured, Darren Waller can work on getting that troublesome injury under control.

Through the 2022 season, Waller has played five games and totaled 16 receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Being on the injured reserve list buys Waller four weeks. Should his recovery go well, he should return for the December 9 game against the L.A. Rams.

By then, the Raiders could have their season well and truly ended. Will they risk Waller for the last five games of the season when there is nothing to gain?

It remains to be seen. But at the same time, it could give the star tight end a good base to launch into the preseason with.

The year hasn't gone the way many thought. With Darren Waller now out for a month, it could go from bad to worse for the Las Vegas Raiders.
