The Raiders hold the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, but general manager Dave Ziegler reportedly attempted to acquire the top pick.
Per The Athletic, the franchise looked into getting to the first-overall pick, then owned by the Bears.
While no official offer was presented, Las Vegas did discover what Chicago’s asking price would have been. The Bears were reportedly seeking first- and second-round picks this year, two future first-round picks, and another future second-round pick.

Multiple sources informed The Athletic that the Raiders felt that the price was excessive.
Chicago ultimately moved the pick to the Panthers in exchange for Carolina’s 2023 first- and second-round picks, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and receiver D.J. Moore.
The Las Vegas Raiders made a splash this offseason, signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year, $72.75 million contract with $45 million guaranteed. Head coach Josh McDaniels commented recently that getting a signal-caller can be achieved in multiple ways:
“If there are one or two guys at that position who we feel could really help our football team, we’ll figure out the scenario that would give us an opportunity to add them. If we can, great. If we can’t, we can’t. … You have to have multiple plans and avenues to go in.”
Despite signing Garoppolo, McDaniels and Ziegler could still get a quarterback at number seven, but the question is which quarterback(s) will be there at that pick for Las Vegas?
Will the Raiders go QB at No. 7?
The options for Las Vegas to draft a future franchise quarterback could be limited as three could go within the top five. Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Anthony Richardson are the top prospects at quarterback.
The Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, and Indianapolis Colts will likely go quarterback, holding the first, second, and fourth overall picks, respectively.
One possible option is University of Kentucky quarterback Will Levis for the Raiders should they go that route. We will have to wait until next month to see what Las Vegas does with their first-round pick.
