Since the Houston Texans joined the NFL in 2002, they have had their share of talented players, but only a few have made a lasting impact. When it comes to the greatest Houston Texan ever, one name immediately comes to mind: J.J. Watt.

With a rare combination of strength, agility and intelligence, Watt dominated the league during his time in Houston and left an indelible mark on the franchise.

Houston Texans' GOAT: J.J. Watt

Watt was selected by the Texans with the 11th pick in the 2011 draft, and he quickly established himself as one of the league's most dominant defensive players. He played in Houston for 10 seasons, becoming the franchise's all-time leader in sacks with 101.

With the Texans, Watt was a force to be reckoned. He won three Defensive Player of the Year awards, a feat that has only been accomplished by one other player in league history. He also led the league in sacks twice, was named to the Pro Bowl five times and was a first-team All-Pro selection five times.

Watt's statistics with the Texans are impressive, but it was his combination of power, speed and football IQ that made him one of the league's most feared defensive players. His ability to disrupt the quarterback and stop the run was unmatched, and he was a key part of the Texans' defensive game plan for a decade.

Off the field, Watt was also a respected leader and humanitarian. He was known for his work ethic, professionalism and commitment to his community, earning him the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award in 2017.

After spending his final season with the Texans in 2020, Watt signed with the Arizona Cardinals. Although his time in Houston has come to an end, his legacy as the greatest Houston Texan ever is secure.
