With the Fennekin Community Day in Pokemon GO right around the corner, players everywhere may be wondering if they will be able to get their hands on the spotlight creature's rare shiny variant. Given Niantic's reputation for releasing shiny Pocket Monsters at random, many trainers in the mobile game are not sure if it is possible to do so as of this writing.

Shiny Pokemon first debuted in the second generation of the franchise. These rare types of creatures featured an altered color palette as well as a unique sparkling effect that triggers upon entering battle. Despite providing no tactical upper hand, many players enjoy collecting these variants due to their rarity.

Since shiny Pokemon have become available in Pokemon GO, many trainers would think that this means that every type of Shiny Pokemon can be captured. Sadly, this is not the case.

So, what about Fennekin, the Fire-type starter from the Kalos region? Can players find this creature in its shiny variant?

Players can now find shiny Fennekin in Pokemon GO. It was added to Niantic's mobile title during the Fennekin Community Day on May 21, 2023. The event took place from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm local time.

The Fox Pokemon's shiny variant will arrive in the game with the Fennekin Community Day. Players will be able to find it in the wild even after the event ends.

Following the standard formula, this Community Day will feature a heightened chance to find a shiny Pokemon in the wild. With this in mind, players looking to get their hands on a shiny Fennekin should participate in it. The rate of finding a shiny Fennekin during the event will be around one in every 25 spawns.

Aside from the shiny chances being heightened during this Community Day, there are other precautions that players can take to help increase their odds of finding a shiny variant even further. The first thing trainers can do is stock up on spawn rate-boosting consumables like Incense and Lure Modules.

Incense is very important for trainers looking to remain active during events in Pokemon GO. These items work by attaching to the player's avatar to increase the general spawn rate of wild creatures around them for as long as they remain active. While wild Pocket Monsters can still spawn while the player is stationary, the boost is significantly less potent.

Lure Modules work very similarly to Incense. The main difference is that Lure Modules attach to Pokestops and gym locations to increase the spawn rate of wild Pokemon around these locations. Those who live near Pokestops can just use a Lure Module to farm for a shiny Fennekin from the safety of their own home.

Fennekin, being a Fire-type creature in Pokemon GO, receives a spawn boost in areas experiencing sunny weather. While its Community Day event will practically guarantee that Fennekin will spawn in high numbers, hunting in optimal weather will greatly decrease the time it takes for its shiny variant to spawn. This is all thanks to the game's weather boost feature.
