What's the story?
Former WWE World Champion Edge recently sat down with RollingStone to promote the Vikings TV series and also talked about life after WWE. The former World Heavyweight Champion gave his thoughts on wrestling getting mainstream attention now.
In case you didn't know...
Adam Copeland, better known as Edge, is a former 11-time WWE World Champion and Hall of Famer who retired from in-ring competition back in 2011, due to several neck injuries which he had suffered over the years.
The Canadian superstar made his wrestling debut back in 1996 and since then has won numerous major championships within the WWE including the WWE Title, the World Heavyweight Title, the Tag Team Titles and much more. Edge is also a WWE Hall of Famer and is a two time Slammy Award winner. Ever since retiring from in-ring competition, Edge has been making one-off sporadic appearances in the WWE and has also been focusing on his acting career as well. The 44-year-old will also make an appearance on famous TV series Vikings in the near future.

His thoughts on one's success after leaving WWE:
During the interview, Edge was questioned regarding one's success after leaving WWE and was asked about his thoughts on why more wrestlers don’t go the Cody Rhodes route and reinvent themselves independently. According to Edge, it is different for everyone in the wrestling business but he also thinks that it is possible for other superstars to follow Cody Rhodes' path, who along with the Young Bucks have carved their own niche outside of WWE.
On Wrestling getting more mainstream attention now, compared to the attitude era:
Edge stated that the main credit for wrestling getting such mainstream attention goes to guys like Dwyane Johnson and Dave Bautista, who are helping to legitimize the current product.
“Twenty years ago, outside of Hulk Hogan doing Santa With Muscles and things like that, it would have been difficult for someone like me to land a role on a dramatic, huge series. What it is we do is a lot of different balls to keep in the air, and I think people are really starting to appreciate that now."- Edge stated.
What's next?
Edge is now enjoying life outside of WWE and is preparing to make his next big debut, which will be a part of the Vikings TV series, where he plays the role of Ketill Flatnose.
