Dolph Ziggler has certainly had his share of injury issues in WWE competition.Injuries have been a major issue for the WWE recently. There are currently about half a dozen guys who have been in a title picture in the last couple years that are out with injuries, others are working hurt and Daniel Bryan recently retired due to injury. Some of those weren’t even wrestling-related and others – like in Seth Rollins’s case – were based on tricky turns or landings. But other injuries – both minor and major – came at the hands of another superstar. Here are five such recent incidents that led to an injury.
#5 Henry\'s hurt ribs
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Perhaps the most recent example of stars hurting each other came within the last week in a match between Mark Henry and the New Day’s Big E. While it’s unclear when the injury occurred, it was very obvious Henry hurt a rib or two.
Big E was going for his finisher when Henry appeared to counter, but he simply fell to the mat and took the pin. He later acknowledged the injury on social media but said he expects he’ll be fine.
#4 Ambrose\'s wild ride
Given the men in the ring, the ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania 31 was guaranteed to be full of high-quality action. One big-time spot in the match was a powerbomb by Luke Harper on Dean Ambrose that sent Ambrose through a ladder bridged from the barricade to the apron.
During the move, Ambrose suffered a nasty gash on the back of his head from the broken ladder. Thinking he might go back into the match and compete, the training staff actually closed the wound at ringside before more extensive treatment backstage.
#3 Cena\'s busted nose
John Cena’s feud with Seth Rollins took center stage during the summer of 2015, and it involved both the World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship. Rollins held both titles at one point, but Cena also got his victories for the U.S. belt.
During one match for the U.S. belt on RAW, Rollins went for a knee to the face, a move he uses frequently. This time, it went very wrong, as Rollins held Cena too tightly and didn’t allow the 15-time world champ to pull away. That led to a pretty gnarly broken nose for Cena, but he didn’t miss much time.
#2 Samoa Joe vs. Tyson Kidd
Samoa Joe was one of the most anticipated signings to the WWE roster, and he’s been a major asset to the NXT storyline. But one of his first appearances was actually a dark match after Raw against Tyson Kidd, a main-roster performer.
That match ended badly, as Kidd’s neck was badly injured during Joe’s “Musclebuster” finishing maneuver. Kidd has been out for more than eight months and required surgery, and there has been no sign of his return. HIs tag-team partner, Cesaro, got a singles push in Kidd’s absence, but he has since gotten hurt as well.
#1 Rollins hurts Sting
Sting’s brief run with the WWE has been an odd one. He went from losing to Triple H to randomly challenging for the World Heavyweight Championship over the course of a few months, and that latter role may have ended his career in pro wrestling.
During a title match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions in September, Sting took a pair of Rollins’ turnbuckle powerbombs. The second one led to the former WCW legend collapsing in the ring, and while he finished the match, it was later revealed he had suffered a severe neck injury.
