Best Pictures from India South Africa 2nd ODI - Kohli curses, Rahane stumbles and Dhoni appeals unsurely

India have won the 2nd ODI of the 5-match series against South Africa by 22 runs, on the back of a true captain’s knock from MS Dhoni and a superlative team effort on the field by the hosts. After seeming to be in control in both the innings, South Africa lost the plot midway both with the bat and ball in hand. The best frames captured in the course of the match:

#1 Rohit Sharma loses his off stump

On the back of his glorious knock in the 1st ODI, many would have been expecting Rohit Sharma to come good again. However, in the second over of the match, the opener lost his off stump in emphatic fashion to Kagiso Rabada, after having scored only 3 runs.

#2 Kohli curses fate, and Rahane

Virat Kohli was looking to post a big score in the match before falling victim to a run out on 12 runs, after a misunderstanding with batting partner Ajinkya Rahane. He left the field cursing, but only after giving his partner a few angry stares.

#3 A coming together

Ajinkya Rahane, who was the only Indian top order batsman who posted a big score, seen colliding with Farhaan Behardien. Rahane departed in the 23rd over, putting his team into a lot of trouble.

#4 Morkel gives Raina a hard stare

Suresh Raina has failed to post double-digit scores in both the ODIs, after having fallen for a duck in the Indore match. His wicket left India reeling at 104/5. As Morkel’s stare to Raina shows, the heat is turned on Raina to perform soon.

#5 MS Dhoni sends four out of the park

With seven fours and four sixes, MS Dhoni roused the Indian fans in the second half of the batting innings. His individual century seemed to be on the cards for a while as well, but he could only connect with one of the six balls in the last over – one which went for a six.

#6 Bhajji gives charge

India were looking to post a competitive total at best before the mad charge given in the last 10 overs by MS Dhoni and the Indian tail. The bulk of the scoring from the tail came from Harbhajan’s bat, who hit one six and two boundaries.

#7 India\'s fielding and bowling heroes

Without a doubt, the two men chiefly responsible for bringing India back in the game in the second innings of this thriller were silly mid off Virat Kohli and spinner Axar Patel. Kohli took three vital catches, while Patel took the wickets of Amla, Duminy and Du Plessis.

#8 Kohli\'s third catch puts match in India\'s bag

After taking the catch of Dale Steyn, Virat Kohli was again converged upon by the Indian players, who, for the first time in the match, felt a realistic chance of winning the match.

#9 Dhoni\'s unsure appeal

Farhaan Behardien was given out caught behind off a ball which should have been signalled a wide ball. It was a lucky break for India, and the whole team went up in uproarious appeal. Dhoni, the man who took the catch and who was closest to the batsman, came up with a very unsure appeal, even as eyes lit up all around the ground.

#10 MS Dhoni takes the stumps again

This was MS Dhoni’s first Man of the Match award after 27 months and 41 matches, his first since July 2013. This victory clearly meant the world to him. Whenever he takes a stump from a match, it means something special to him.
