Top 5 potential transfer sagas of summer

Every transfer window has its share of saga's. last year it was Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez this year it will be someone else. Rumours of players wanting a new challenge or growning unhappy at their clubs have already been doing the rounds and its only a matter of time before big clubs come calling. Here is a list of 5 players who could dominate the sports headlines this summer.

#1 Toni Kroos

The Bayern midfielder has been magnificent this season, giving a brilliant performance against Arsenal in the Champions League last month. The 24-year-old has not yet signed a new contract with the Baverians leaving the possibility of a move open. Manchester United manager David Moyes has made Kroos a top target as his club badly need midfielders, and went so far as to personally scout the player in Germany last month.

The player will be expensive but is worth every penny as he is capable of operating as an attacker as well as a defensive midfielder. Kroos's brother Felix recently stated that his sibling dreams of playing in the Premier League, giving Moyes hope in his pursuit of the player. Munich will not want to let go of their prize asset that easily and there will be a struggle between the Bundesliga club and Manchester United in securing the players signature.

#2 Julian Draxler

Draxler is one of the hottest prospects in Germany right now and will most likely be involved in his country's World Cup campaign this year. Arsenal have been heavily linked with the young playmaker and even bid an undisclosed fee for the player which was turned down by Draxler's club Schalke 04.The 20-year-old recently stated that he will not remain with Schalke forever and will leave them in the future for a new challenge. Draxler will fancy a chance to link up with Arsene Wenger who has an excellent reputation with young players.

The Germany international stated that he would love to play for one of the big clubs in the Premier League which should give Arsenal some hope. Draxler currently plays as an attacking midfielder but will most likely be converted into a striker by Arsene Wenger who did the same thing with former Gunners Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie. Arsenal will almost certainly make their move before the World Cup as Draxler will be more expensive if he performs well for the national team.

#3 David Luiz

The Chelsea defender's future is in doubt once again this season and it looks like he may be on the move in summer. Luiz is a cult hero at Stamford Bridge and has scored some important goals over the years most notably against both Manchester clubs but has been known to be sloppy at times which has not gone down well with Jose Mourinho who prefers the combo of Gary Cahill and John Terry.Barcelona are expected to try and sign Luiz as a replacement for the outgoing Carlos Puyol. The Catalans have tried to sign the Brazilian before but have been thwarted in their efforts so far.

The Camp Nou outfit are willing to offer as much as £25 million for the player which could tempt Chelsea into selling him, The 26-year-old is loved at Stamford Bridge but Jose Mourinho may not take the fans opinion into consideration as he sold two time Chelsea player of the year Juan Mata to Manchester United. Luiz has already captained his country on one occasion and may even be a future Barca skipper.

#4 Radamel Falcao

The Columbian hitman moved to mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco from Atletico Madrid for £50 million last summer but will most likely leave this year in order to play Champions League football with one of the bigger clubs. Falcao has been in brilliant form for his country and was Columbia's top scorer in the World Cup qualifiers scoring 9 goals. A player of his quality will want to play with one of the best clubs in the world. Chelsea has emerged as a possible destination for Falcao who caught the eye of Jose Mourinho when the manager personally scouted him last year.

It is an open secret that Chelsea need some firepower up front as Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o are just not good enough. Chelsea may have to pay over £50 million for Falcao as his price will go up after the World Cup but that shouldn't be a problem for the Blues as they have broken transfer records before. The 28-year-old is a lethal striker and will feel right at home at Chelsea. Football fans can expect Falcao to be involved in another huge transfer saga this summer.

#5 Luke Shaw

The teenage left-back is drawing praise from all corners for his performance this season and even earned his first England senior call up in the recent match against Denmark. Shaw signed a new contract with Southampton on his 18th birthday but may be tempted to move to one of the big clubs interested in him. The player is valued at over £20 million by the Saints but that should not ditter the big boys.

Manchester United and Chelsea have emerged as very realistic destinations for Shaw this summer. United boss David Moyes sees Shaw as a good replacement for the ageing Patrice Evra and may break the bank to secure his services. Shaw may also fancy a move to United due to their immense faith in young players unlike Chelsea who have let young talents like Daniel Sturridge and Ryan Bertrand slip through their fingers.
