Transfer news and rumours of the day: December 14, 2015

Dybala to stay?

Back to Real Madrid? The winter window gets closer with each passing day and the transfer rumour mill is starting to pick up steam. There has been a buzz around many players and clubs, some needing reinforcements, others seeking moves away from their respective clubs for more than a single reason. Nonetheless, the January window is poised to give us some interesting news. Here are the top transfer news and rumours of the day from leagues around Europe.

#1 Serie A

Dybala to stay?

- Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has denied rumours linking Paolo Dybala with various clubs and insisted that the Argentine is not going to leave the Turin giants in near future. Dybala was linked with a move to Barcelona and Real Madrid last week.

“We do not want to sell him neither this season nor in the following ones as we have invested a considerable sum on him,” Marotta said.

“Dybala is a player who is growing and who has not yet shown his full potential.”

- Napoli are looking to extend the loan spell of Chelsea’s Nathaniel Chalobah, Calciomerato reports.

The 21-year has been with Chelsea from 2012 but is yet to make an appearance for them and has spent the last three seasons on loan at Watford, Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley and Reading.

- Napoli are looking to bring in Manchester United’s young full-back Guillermo Varela, Inside Football reports.

The Uruguayan has started two back to back matches for the Red Devils, but once the injury situation at Old Trafford improves, he might find it hard to maintain his position in the starting XI. The Serie A club might make a move for the youngster in the January window itself.

#2 La Liga

Negredo rejects Barcelona

- Valencia coach Gary Neville might be nearing his first signing for the club, with Fenerbache full-back Gokhan Gonul on his radar, Milliyet reports.

The 30-year old is supposedly open for a move to the La Liga club and can make a move from Turkey in the January transfer window itself. He has more than 50 international caps for Turkey to his name.

- Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo has rejected a move to the defending La Liga champions Barcelona, Spanish news agency Sport reports.

The ex-Man City striker was approached by the Catalan giants to sign a 6-month deal with them starting from January, however, the Spaniard has rejected the move in order to have more playing time at the Mestalla, rather than making a move to Camp Nou and restrict his playing time where Luis Suarez will naturally be the first choice striker.

- One of the most sensational rumour of the day comes from Real Madrid, who are reportedly plotting a move to re-sign Mesut Ozil from Arsenal, according to Don Balon.

The news agency reports that James Rodriguez wants to leave the Los Blancos, and Ozil has been lined up as a possible replacement for the Colombian. The Gunners bought Ozil for £42.4m in 2013, and supposedly the German will be offered a deal extension from the North Londoners shortly. So, it is highly unlikely that he will move back to the Bernabeu after the kind of love he has received from Gooners.

#3 English Premier League

Pep closing in on a move to Old Trafford?

- Manchester United are closing in Bayern Munich’s manager Pep Guardiola, The Sun reports.

The pressure on Louis Van Gaal’s job has increased exponentially after United succumbed to a defeat against newly promoted Bournemouth after being ousted from the Champions League. According to reports, Pep’s future with the Bavarian giants will be decided this week, with Manchester City interested in the ex-Barcelona manager as well.

- Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stated that Diego Costa will see out his contract with the club but failed to rule out that the Spanish striker will move back to Atletico Madrid in future, with whom he has been linked quite a few times after reports emerged that Mourinho is not happy with the 27-year-old.

“In football you never know.

“Atletico is a great club, La Liga is a great league, so why should a 28-year-old player not think it is possible to go back? I don't see a problem.

“He is happy here. He has, I think, three more years under contract. I see him staying at Chelsea for three more years, no problem.”

- Simon Mignolet is all set to be offered a new deal from Liverpool, Daily Star reports.

The Belgian shot-stopper has received complete backing from Jurgen Klopp and will be asked to extend his stay with the club.

- North London rivals, Tottenham and Arsenal are set to go head to head for the signing of Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi, The Mirror reports.

The 22-year-old Belgium striker, who is in great form this season, is believed to be of the same quality as Christian Benteke and Romelu Lukaku and might make a move to the Premier League in the January transfer window if one of the two clubs come calling.

#4 Rest of Europe

Back to Italy?

- Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti might make a move back to the Serie A with Juventus touted as possible suitors, Mundo Deportivo reports.

With PSG showing their interest in Pogba, Veratti can move to the Turin giants, with the Frenchman moving to the other side in a swap deal. However, the 23-year old Italian prefers a move to Champions League winners Barcelona.

Other top European clubs like Manchester United, Man City, Chelsea and Real Madrid have all been linked with both midfielders.

- Besiktas vice president Ahmet Nur Cebi has confirmed that the club are interested in the signig of Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina. The Colombian has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates since the summer signig of Petr Cech.

“We are interested in Ospina,” he said. “Him and goalkeepers of his calibre but just because we want him does not mean he will come.

“We have to agree with his club and take his contract into consideration.”
