WWE Roadblock 2016: Full match card analysis and predictions

New Day set for a face turn?

Could he?The hidden (or perhaps well known) agenda of Roadblock is to put over the WWE Network. Otherwise, having a Network special right in between the buildup of WrestleMania makes no sense. Most of the storylines that WWE is presenting at Roadblock have no relation with what they have booked for WrestleMania, so it’s the Network itself that motivated WWE to book this show. The creative team has lined up four solid matches for the show nevertheless. Network specials have never managed to get the fans bored and hopefully, this one will not break the trend. Before we head into the pay-per-view, here is the complete match card analysis and predictions.

#4 The New Day vs. League of Nations (WWE Tag Team Championship)

New Day set for a face turn?

Just like most of the other matches on the match card, this one also felt like it was put together in a hurry and to be frank, it was. The New Day’s face turn is still not a completed phenomenon and this match should only be seen as a move to do the same.

The Tag team titles being on the line is simply WWE’s attempt to make this match look serious.

New Day is not likely to lose their titles at Roadblock. However, this match could set up a future bout between the two factions or could pave the way in transforming the New Day into fan favorites. Either way, expect a fun match between these two teams at the event.

Prediction: New Day retains.

#3 The Revival vs. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady (NXT Tag Team titles)

Time to shine

The main roster fans might find this match hard to digest. They aren’t familiar with the brilliance that these four wrestlers bring to the table which sets up the stage perfectly for these men. The level of expectations would be low, so if they manage to pull off a good bout, they are going to get noticed big time.

No matter who wins here, a title defense will take place at NXT Takeover: Dallas and the possible contenders will be Chad Gable and Jason Jordan. Enzo and Cass are apparently next in line for a call-up, so they could win on Saturday, and then drop the titles to Gable and Jordan at Dallas.

Prediction: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady wins.

#2 Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar

Bray to get slayed by the Beast

The Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar match would’ve been a mouthwatering one if it hadn’t booked in such a tight schedule. We did not see any solid buildup here and it would simply turn out to be a random match for a short term pleasure. The entire Wyatt Family would be at ring side for the match but they could get dismantled easily by the Beast.

Unlike Bray, Brock has a hyped match at WrestleMania and booking him weakly at Roadblock is not something WWE would do. Lesnar could walk out with a clean win from the show and as for the Wyatt Family, they would slip down one step further in the relevance ladder.

Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins

#1 Triple H vs. Dean Ambrose (WWE World Heavyweight Championship)

Triple H could play the dirty card

Dean Ambrose will get his share of the limelight at the event when he will headline the show with Triple H. Although WWE is advertising it as a WWE Championship bout, the fans are not taking the possibility of a title change seriously.

This is because of the already booked match between Roman Reigns and Triple H at WrestleMania. There is more money in a Triple H vs. Reigns showdown than an Ambrose vs. Reigns or an Ambrose vs. Reigns vs. Triple H match.

So, WWE would be playing it safe and will most likely keep the title on Triple H. We are bound to see an interference towards the end of the match and a no-contest ending is something that Vince could book.

Prediction: Triple H retains the title
