WWE year in review: 5 break out stars of 2015

Strowman is still improving

Strowman had a good run in 2015WWE revealed the Slammy Awards recently and this was a topic of discussion among the WWE fans. The fans felt that the Slammy did not go to the rightful superstars and these concerns were true to an extent. ‘Breakout superstar of the year’ was one category that created a huge amount of buzz.Speaking of which, WWE had its fair share of breakout stars in 2015. Some won over the fans with their talent while some others received a magical push from WWE creative. Irrespective of the path they travelled, they certainly fall under the ‘Breakout stars’ category. This list is going to look at those gems that WWE dug up in 2015:

#5 Braun Strowman

Strowman is still improving

Braun Strowman, by no means, is a great wrestler. He is still taking baby steps in the wrestling business and only time will make him a good wrestler.

However, from what we saw in 2015, WWE is high on him. Braun had an impactful debut and WWE protected him throughout the year. Braun was lucky enough to feud with Undertaker and Kane as well.

WWE still projects Braun as an indestructible monster and we could expect much more from him in 2016. To make matters better, Braun is getting the rub from Dudley Boyz and many other veterans in the business.

#4 Kalisto

Kalisto pulled off a spot to remember for ages

The value of Kalisto went sky high after the ladder match at TLC. It was a match that allowed him to display his talent and he took full advantage of the same. Before this break out performance, Kalisto cemented his place as a solid worker in the tag team division.

Despite not being able to show case his complete talent due to the limitation of the matches, Kalisto became a hit with the fans. And, when TLC came along, everyone came to know how talented he is when presented with the right resources.

Kalisto is clearly someone who could fill in the void that Rey Mysterio left.

#3 Charlotte

a magical 2016 awaits

Charlotte had a memorable stay in NXT before making it into the main roster. When she started out in the big league, she was a mere character in the whole ‘Divas Revolution’. This phase changed and WWE pushed Charlotte into the divas title scene.

Her character received complex layers and WWE made good use of her father along the road. Currently, Charlotte is the reigning Divas Champion and features heavily in WWE’s plan for WrestleMania.

There is plenty of room for improvement when it comes to her overall wrestling career, but Charlotte has the time on her side. This is a good thing for her and the fans.

#2 Neville

The slammy winner

Neville did not get a big push like most of the other superstars in this list. He was introduced into the mid card and he could be stuck there for a long time. Compared to his time in the independent circuit, Neville still has a huge amount of potential that is untouched by WWE.

If they manage to dig out the same in 2016, Neville could steal the show consistently.

He did win the Slammy Award for ‘Break out star of the year’ category. From one perspective, it was the right decision for Neville. However, the superstar in the next slide deserved it better.

#1 Kevin Owens

Main event star stuck in mid card

Everyone knows that Kevin Owens is the breakout star of 2015. I mean how many superstars get to defeat John Cena in their first main roster match? And it was not even the best part of his main roster run.

Owens held the Intercontinental championship, NXT championship, and featured in some excellent matches throughout the year. The Twitter handle of Owens is entertaining as well.

Just like Neville, Owens has immense potential that WWE is yet to discover. Owens is a mainevent talent that is wasted in the mid card and hopefully, WWE will understand this and push him big in 2016.
