1987: Birth of Ersan Ilyasova, a Turkish basketball player, who currently plays for the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA.

1989: US Basketball League cancels its summer schedule.

1963: Tottenham Hotspur became the first British club to win a European trophy by beating defending champions Atlético Madrid 5-1 in the European Cup Winners’ Cup Final.1981: Birthday of Patrice Evra, French international playing for Manchester United in the English Premier League.

2002: Real Madrid won their record ninth European Cup/Champions League trophy, beating Bayer Leverkusen in the Final.2004: Arsenal became the first side in more than 100 years to go through a league season unbeaten after beating Leicester City 2-1 at Highbury.
