Cincinnati Reds is an American Baseball team in Major League Baseball. The team is also widely known by its nickname ‘The Reds’ and ‘The Redlegs’. Cincinnati Reds is a team based in Cincinnati, US. The team was established in 1869, back when they were called ‘Red Stockings’. They became part of the National League Professional Baseball Club in 1890 and were part of the American Association from 1881 to 1889. Currently, Cincinnati Reds are part of the National League (NL) Central Division. They were also part of the National League (NL) West Division during 1969 and 1993.

The main color theme of the team is red, black, and white. However, the team’s uniform also includes the color grey in its color palette. The team’s current home ballpark is Great American Ballpark. It has been so since 2003. Before settling on the Great American Ballpark which is in Cincinnati Ohio, the team had called home to six ballparks prior to the current one.

Cincinnati Reds History

The Cincinnati Reds team seems to have been established in 1869, back then they were called the ‘Red Stockings’. Unfortunately, the team ended up dissolving after only two years of being professional. In 1875, the Red Stockings made a comeback again. However, they were expelled from the National League in 1880.

This happened because the league had put a ban on beer and Sunday baseball. All the other team owners had signed the pledge however, the Cincinnati president, W. H. Kennett refused to do so which led to the team being expelled. A new league was made in 1881, which was the American Association. Cincinnati Red Stockings became a part of the league and won the first championship tournament in it. The Cincinnati Red Stockings joined the National League again in 1890 and changed their name to what it is today, the Cincinnati Reds. They won 5 World Series Titles and many more titles since then.

Cincinnati Reds Owner

The current owner of Cincinnati Reds is Robert Castellini also known as Bob Castellini. He is an American businessman who is the chairman of Castellini company and is based in Cincinnati. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 23, 1941. Carl Lindner was the former owner of the Reds, however, after a losing streak where the team lost five consecutive seasons, Linder decided to sell the team. It was sold to Castellini for $270 million. Under the ownership of Castellini, the Reds began anew.
