The Colorado Rockies are notable for starting their MLB career in the 1993 season. Since then, they have competed in the National League (NL), hoping to win the titles and championships to their collection. Unfortunately, the team has only won the NL pennant once in their career till now.
Despite this, the team has appeared in the post-season five times and has even managed to make a position for themselves in the division's Wild Card. They are also known as the Wild Card Winners because they appeared in the post-season by winning the Wild Card.
In the present times, the Colorado Rockies have become one of the favorite teams of the people of Colorado. The team receives huge support from its fans despite not winning any titles. In return, the team has continued its competitive nature in the games, entertaining the fans with its performances. They are working hard to gain a World Series title.
Colorado Rockies History
The history of the Colorado Rockies dates back to the 1950s and 1960s when the people of Denver, Colorado, United States, expressed an interest in having a major baseball team from their city. This ultimately led to the MLB permitting John Antonucci and his group to create a team for the MLB expansion.
The Colorado Rockies was created in 1993 and started playing their first MLB season during the same year. Throughout the 1990s, the team continued improving by beating different opponents throughout the MLB seasons. They appeared in the playoffs for the first time in 1995 but lost the game to their opponents. Despite this, they were the leaders of the league in attendance.
The Colorado Rockies made history on April 4, 1999, when they defeated the San Diego Padres in Mexico with a score of 8-2. During the 2000s, the team had a topsy-turvy performance, winning some games while losing the others. In 2004, the arrival of several young talented players in the team was known as the “Generation-R.”
In 2007, the Colorado Rockies appeared in their first World Series. During that season, the team had a brilliant performance in October, named “Rocktober.” The team also won its first NL pennant in 2007, which they defended in the 2008 season. However, they could not maintain their winning consistency in the 2008 season. The team returned to the playoffs in the 2009 season but again failed to win it.
Throughout the 2010s, the team continued rebuilding and improving themselves. This led to Nolan Arenado receiving the Gold Gloves after the end of the 2013 season. Since then, the team hasn’t showcased good quality performance. However, the team has been constantly rebuilding and improving themselves to provide a better performance to its dedicated fanbase. Currently, the team is solely focused on winning their first World Series title in the MLB.
Colorado Rockies Owner
The Colorado Rockies are owned by Charles. K. Monfort and Richard. L. Monfort (the Monfort brothers). They are the sons of Kenneth Monfort, who used to own a meatpacking and distribution company called Monfort of Colorado Inc. The company was eventually purchased in 1987 by ConAgra Foods. Both brothers grew up in Greeley, Colorado, United States.
Charlie Monfort and Oren Brenton were the first to purchase controlling interest in the Colorado Rockies. Charlie’s brother, Richard Monfort, later joined the Colorado Rockies and was appointed as the company's vice-chairman. Both the brothers became the primary owners of the team in 2005.
Under their ownership, the team has improved and made four post-season appearances. Despite this, the fans have become disillusioned due to their incapacity to successfully run the team and win championships. Both these brothers have received criticism from the media due to their incompetency as owners of an MLB team.
Colorado Rockies’ Jersey and Logo
The Colorado Rockies have designed their own home and road jerseys to distinguish them from other MLB teams. Their home jersey consists of white colored shirts and pants with purple pinstripes. There is a purple-colored logo of Nike on the upper left side of the jersey. Below these, the team name “ROCKIES” is written in silver and trimmed with black color.

One of the sleeves of the jersey celebrates the completion of 30 years by the team in MLB. The caps and helmets of the team are black colored, with the team's logo “CR” appearing purple-colored with silver interlinking in front of the cap or the helmet.
The road jersey of the Colorado Rockies consists of gray-colored shirts and pants. There are purple-colored pipings around the neck and running down on both sides of the jersey. A purple Nike logo is on the upper left side of the jersey. The word “COLORADO” appears in purple with white outlines in an arched way on the jersey's chest.

Colorado Rockies Rivalries
The major rivals for the Colorado Rockies have been the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Rivalry of the Rockies and the Diamondbacks
The rivalry between these two teams originated since both were among the newest teams in the MLB. The two rivals have met twice in the post-season, with each team winning once. Recently, these teams have had an on-and-off rivalry between them.
Rivalry of the Rockies and the Giants
These teams’ rivalries are also related to the division and post-season. Giants have prevented the Rockies from pursuing their post-season championship goals. The Rockies have also been unable to win the NL West division because the Giants have prevented them from doing so again.
Rivals of the Rockies and the Dodgers
The rivalry between these two teams is also divisional and postseasonal. The Rockies have neither won the NL West nor the postseason because the Dodgers had put a stop to that goal by winning the division and the league themselves.
Both the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Francisco Giants seem to be the major obstacles in the path of the Colorado Rockies from achieving their goals.
