Argentine tennis player David Nalbandian has announced his retirement from the game due to a shoulder injury.
On why he retired, the 31-year-old said: “It’s not easy what’s happening to me now, my shoulder is not helping me to train as I should for the circuit.”
Nalbandian had a distinguished career in which he reached the semi-finals of every Grand Slam at least once, with his best result coming at Wimbledon in 2002, where he reached the final. In addition to that, he won 11 ATP title with his finest hour coming in 2005, as he beat Roger Federer in five thrilling sets to capture the year-end Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
The Argentine made his last appearance on court playing in the doubles in his country’s Davis Cup quarterfinal triumph over France in April this year.
