Chris Evert made the day for many young tennis players from the Evert Tennis Academy by posing for a picture with the female students at the academy in Boca Raton, Florida. The American tennis legend, who resides in Boca Raton, recently visited the youngsters training at her tennis center.

Chris Evert, her brother John, who played at the college/university level, and their late father, Jimmy Evert, a former pro player and professional coach, launched their family academy back in 1996.

This week, Evert herself put on her tennis gear and gave some of the current students in the academy the joy of meeting and interacting with the tennis legend. She took to social media to share a group photo of herself with some of the female players there.

"Sweet, happy, healthy girls," Chris Evert captioned her tweet.

The academy also offers academics as well as housing facilities for full-time students, thus giving them the comfort of living, learning, and training on the same premises.

Ajla Tomljanovic is among the alumni of the Evert Tennis Academy and Evert herself has been the Australian tennis star's mentor from a very early stage of her career. Madison Keys, Peng Shuai, Lauren Davis, and Andy Roddick are some of the other alumni of the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion's academy in Florida.

Iga Swiatek dropped only five games en route to winning the 2023 Qatar Open in Doha last week, thus breaking a record previously held by Chris Evert that stood for over four decades. Back at the 1981 Swiss Open, the American great set the record by dropping only seven games en route to the title.

Reacting to breaking Evert's record, Swiatek admitted that the path was relatively easier for her as she received a walkover in one of her matches - the quarter-final against Belinda Bencic. Regardless, she was quite proud to be able to earn the feat, and even apologized to Evert for breaking her record.

"I'm just happy that I was so efficient. And, sorry, Chris," Swiatek said in a post-match interview after winning the final.
"Yeah, well, it's also, you know, because basically I had a bye, and Belinda pulled out, so I had little bit easier situation to do it, but I'm still proud of it, so I'm happy," she added.

Meanwhile, Evert also recently applauded the depth of quality on the WTA tour, reacting to the women's singles draw at the Dubai Tennis Championships, led by Swiatek.
