In pictures: Ajla Tomljanovic cuts a striking figure in new photoshoot for T Magazine Australia

Ajla Tomljanovic recently shared some glamorous images from her photoshoot with The New York Times Style Magazine, more commonly known as T Magazine.

Tomljanovic suffered a knee injury prior to the Australian Open, which rendered her unable to compete at her home Grand Slam. She underwent a successful procedure to treat the injury, but later revealed that the recovery process would leave her unable to play competitive tennis in the coming months.

During the recovery, the 29-year-old graced the cover of T Magazine clad in a pink bathing suit and gazing intently into the camera.

"New Cover of @tmagazineau. Loved creating this with this amazing bunch," she captioned the post.

The Australian shared some more pictures from her photoshoot, where she could be seen posing in a stunning black dress against the backdrop of a tennis court. In other photos, she donned an oversized coat and posed atop a chair.

Tomljanovic is no stranger to magazine photoshoots. She had dazzled in a spread for Vogue Australia earlier in the year.

T Magazine made a preview of their interview with Ajla Tomljanovic available to read online. In the interview, the 29-year-old revealed that she doesn't believe in superstitions or pre-game rituals despite many athletes using them in the hope of enhancing their performance.

She recounted an incident in which she ate Thai food at a restaurant in Paris before going on a winning streak at the 2014 French Open. When she returned to the Grand Slam the following year, she insisted on dining at the same restaurant, only to lose her next match.

“I was like, ‘This is so stupid,’ I just know that has no impact on how I’ll do, so my mind just doesn’t go there,” Tomljanovic said.

Tomljanovic also expressed her disappointment about missing the 2023 Australian Open and described it as one of the most painful things an athlete can go through.

“You never learn, really, to cope with these moments. To miss out on your home Slam and then have to watch from the sidelines could be the most painful thing an athlete can go through. Okay, maybe that’s dramatic, but it just feels like that right now,” she said.

Ajla Tomljanovic defeated Serena Williams in the final match of the American's career at the 2022 US Open. While talking about the match, Tomljanovic stated that tennis continues regardless of who retires, and that that is one of the harshest realities of the sport.

“No matter who retires, tennis goes on. And that’s almost the cruelest part of the sport: the train doesn’t stop for anyone," Tomljanovic said.

Serena Williams recently expressed regret at not putting up more of a fight against Tomljanovic at the US Open.
